How do Drill Starts work?

Is it just an Allen wrench on a drill and you stick it in the end of the clutch and it'll turn the flywheel and the wheels? If it is, I should have gotten it

Not quite. It is called a roto-start, it uses a plate that is bolted on to the engine with the use of a oneway bearing that grips the engine shaft. There is a seperate motor that is used to turn the shaft that fits into the plate, drill motors usually don't work so well for this. They are more expensive than the pull starts but worth it when you have a stubborn motor.
