i have heard about the carb restrictor, pipe, and something about cutting off 1/4 of the exhaust header?!?! what are some other ways to get more power out of it? thanks:doh:

Take it out and convert to a BigBlock....lol

j/k with ya.... I heard that motor screams...

That's about it, man. Other than having the engine tuned correctly, the only other things you can really do is put the turbo button in and run 30% nitro. The turbo button and plug will give you more top end with rpms, and the 30% will give you a tad bit more low end punch. It's a killer engine that's been built with extreme precision. It's beautifully ported and man that connecting rod is pretty!
But, there are tons of things you can do to make your Maxx itself faster. Things like getting CVD's, lighter wheels and tires, getting rid of the reverse gear. There's more but I'm fried from a day at the lake and I can't think straight right now. Good luck!

but what does the cutting off of the pipe do?!?!

Sirio conversion

Jimbo,

Before you start cutting and hacking away, I have done extensive research on the Sirio .18 conversion and a few friends are running this conversion with great success.

I have a Sirio .18, header and exhaust on the way to me, so I am also going to be undertaking this conversion soon.

The Sirio .18 takes about a gallon of fuel to break in properly.

If you are running the standard T-MAXX exhaust, replace it with the Sirio exhaust. The T-MAXX exhaust acts like a restrictor, it provides too little flow.
This will provide a substantial boost in power alone!

The header pipe should have about 1/4 to 1/8th of an inch cut from it, this is not mission critical but it is reported to help improve performance. Get the length wrong and you will ruin the motor's performance.
Before you start hacksawing away, do some research and find out just how much should be cut off and how it should be cut off, angle, etc..

GilBeQuick summed it up nicely too. Follow his lead and rid the MAXX of the bulky unneeded items

I have one tuned properly.

Remove the easy start and replace with a pull start $20.00. Alot less weight.

Covert it to a forward only conversion $11.00 and it gets rid of a bag of parts and it's so simple to do! Even more less weights.

Shortening the manifold does give a slight gain from the mid to high range. You will probably have to just to get it to fit into it's proper place.

30% nitro does improve the performance, but you will need to install one additional thin shim. It shortens the engine life ( I don't care ).

Use the turbo button and the recomended turbo plug. Higher rpm's.

Get the pipe, it's your biggest performance gain.

I tune mine with a temp gun with the laser pointer, it works best.

I've tried all types of combinations and this has been what has worked best for me.

Mine hauls........

You can always upgrade the clutch system to like a 3 or even 4 aluminum clutch shoes which will give you more acceleration. A good BIG air filter will always help performance too. More air flow always gives you hp gains.
