Last season I raced with sportmaxx tires so I didnt have to worry about this issue. This year i am running BowTies/Wabash combo. Now my concern is the tires egging. I have seen many trucks have this issue. I have heard of one remedy of putting tape inside the tire. I was just curious to know what everyone else is doing ? And what is the best way to prevent this from happening ?

The thing to do before you glue the tire to the rim is to put a strip of duct tape in it. This will stop the balloning.

all i have ever heard is this taping inside the tires routine...exactly what tape is it that people use ? I've heard 'duct tape' I've heard 'strapping tape' (dont know what that is) does any tape work?

Try to keep it to one sigle piece or try to not verlap any areas too much.

Ok i beaded the tires with that "rail tape" ? Its the tape that has the lines in it. Hopefully it works out. Thx for the replies.

I use duct tape. The color of my tape is grey.

I used a "special"type of duct-tape, I'm not sire what it was exactly, but it was clear tape with the strings weaved through it like typical duct tape, although this one said it was 4-6x stronger than regular duct tape. A little stiff but if you keep if by a heater for a while and get it warmed up....makes its so easy to form arounf the contours of inside the tire!!

Any stiffer than normal duct tape, and you might as well fill the tire with plastic, because its not gonna wanna "give" with bumps, and wont get as much traction.

you have a good point there can't be too stiff or there isn't going to be no movement in the tyres at all i think I'm gonna stick with regular grey/black duct tape i got the bow ties/wabash wheels combo on order should've been here already :(

i use the response tires and i use 1" wide "strapping" or "filament" tape. i turn the tires inside out and wrap the tape around the center. i use a thin bead of thick CA glue to hold everything in place. the tape overlaps about .5" and i put a drop of glue under the overlap as well. this works extremely well and doesn't add too much weight. my experience is that if you don't use the glue with this type of tape, it will just come un-stuck and balloon anyway. :2cents:

you just need a tape with the banding in it. It works like the bands in a radial tire. I use duct tape as well. Works great.

what can i do my tires are egging like crazy with the power of my new tm323 engine only have stock tires at the moment and they are glued any other way egging can be prevented for the time being

drive slower! :jk: i actually was talking to beason the other day and he said he boiled some wheels/tires and was able to pull everything apart. i think bustedgears is trying the same thing. you may want to get with them on this. i don't think there's anything you can do without taking the tires off the wheels, though.
