Has anyone or does anyone know if someone has put some sort of fan on their Savage to cool the engine. I found some small fans made by Kyosho. But not sure if they will work or if its just a waste of money!

I have seen all manner of ducted fan units used to provide some kind of cooling affect. My personal opinion is that you get more cooling air from RAM air as the RC moves than you would get from a small electric fan. If you set up your body properly (ventilate it) and you run the right fuel to air mixture (needle settings), then your engine should be just fine. You add fans, you add weight and draw more juice from the batteries powering your receiver (unless you add a separate battery which becomes more weight). All in all, I think the bads out weigh any possible goods you could come up with for adding a fan.

Cut holes in body...get large heatsink...set needles properly...and it should be cool. Those fans are a piece of junk. Takes to much custom work to fit it onto a Non Kyosho Vehicle.

I've thought about doing the same with my savage as my engine seems to get very hot very quick!,what about some kind of small insulating jacket for the heat sink that could be kept in the freezer over night-perhaps I'm just mad...

You could try that, but the jacket would get heated to the same temp as the engine pretty quickly. You would then end up losing the purpose of the cooling head...airflow over the fins provides the cooling...cover the fins, lose the airflow, engine gets hotter quicker. It was a nice thought though.

You could try diffrent fuel, Blue Thunder-if your not already using it, lowers operations temps. I'm pretty sure O'Donnel makes engines run hotter than Blue Thunder. Try a tank and see how ya like it!

I put a crazynut racing sink head on my 21BB. It's just taller than the stock one. I had it on my OS 15 and my buddy has it on his 21 RB. It cools the motor down more than the stock head. I'm getting one for my hyper 8 port.

665 Almost Evil, what body are you running?
