Me and a buddy have been thinking on this,

But searching the net we have not found a good tut on to do this. All we find is "I used to make it" or "Never do this, companies engineer this"

Bottom line. I Know some egghead has spent many years getting degrees on fuels and petrolium to be able to let us buy it pre mixed from our hobby shops...

But is there an easy way of mixing for a few of us to share?

BTW so far I have found on other forums in nitrorc.com has a guide but it really dont explain,,, Take this amount, add it to this amount, and then add this... Now light a Marlboro and shoot your A*s to the moon.

Anyone know of a good guide to follow?

Okay -- Thousands of engineers, who have spent 10 years in school, have doctorates and masters degrees spent years researching this, and millions of dollars manufacturing the most desirable product. By wanting to make your own, you are essentially saying that you are smarter than these folks, which i doubt. Stick to the stuff u can buy at the store, that way u know u r getting a good product, and u wont blow yourself up.

If - after this comment, u still want to try to mix explosive substances, go buy the anarchist's cookbook - plenty of ways to blow yurself up in there.

:flamer:

This is exactly the reply I figured.

Why make homemade beer when I can buy it in the store? As beer companies spend millions of dollars perfecting this brew. Just by me saying I'm gonna buy a home brewery kit isn't saying I'm smarter than the engineers that make the beer.......

In no way am I saying I'm smarter. All I'm saying is. "Is there a good tut that one can follow to make their own Fuels?"

BTW if you search RC airplane forums you find people making there own fuels in bulk for their clubs... So whats the big deal making it for RC cars?

and I dont want to do this unsafely. I'm not a child so dont treat me as one. I work with chemicals most of the week so safety is always in my head.

okay - I was thinking last night - and was pretty sure that the alchohol used in rc fuel is quite expensive to buy. So I looked up the ingredients of the fuel, and then researched locations to buy it, along with prices and notes.

1. Isopropyl Alchohol: 52.00 per gallon
buy: http://www.lemelange.com/_wpl/lmwsco.htm
2. Nitromethane: 10.83 per quart
buy: http://www.pricechemical.com/order
3. 2stroke oil additive: 9.45 per quart
buy: http://www.autozone.com

this would total over 70.00 plus the labor- hardley seems like a deal, eh? Also, there tons of notes indicating that nitromethane (CH1NO2), which is devised by the nitration of propane, is extremely dangerous to handle, while in a pure state.
