i was just looking around at servos and found this beast..the hitec HS7950TH....it's designed to run directly off a 2s lipo so no restrictors are nesisary...it has 468oz/in of torque at 7.4 volts..tower's site says they will be availible sometime in august..there $150...

here is the link to it on tower: HS-7950TH

i want to run this as a steering servo on every r/c i get now...

another question cold i run two of these on my LST2 and get over 800oz/in of torque for steering on it?..i would then run the throttle/brake servo as a HS7940TH..it has 222 oz/in at 7.4 volts and a speed of 0.06 sec at 7.4 volts...i think that running these servos would make any r/c kick ass..

i could then just run a 7.4volt lipo and not have to worrie about anything..

Here is the HS-7940TH

There are very few vehicles that 500 oz/in. would be useful on. 1/8 scale MT steering and crawlers are the only mainstream rigs that would benefit from that much torque. Running two of those servo's to steer an LST would be a waste of $150 IMO.Anything over 300 oz/in. is pretty much a waste for most anything else aside from large scale and the rigs I mentioned.

I do agree that anything over 300oz is wasted on something other than a crawler or a big-assed 1/8 MT. That said, I ordered both the 7940 and the 7950 last week for my 1/8 buggy and truggy.

The reason is that it (along with the new JR titanium HV ones) is one of the few servos that can run 2s lipo unregulated. While a good 1600 NiMH hump pack will get you through a 30min A-main it's nice to have the ability to run a single Lipo hump pack for both quals and mains without having to swap them out or recharge, especially if you are running multiple classes and your downtime between heats is limited. Plus the higher and more consistent power output is very helpful for racing.

The side benefit is that I'm not locked into lipo only, the standard hump pack @6v performance stats for the 7940/7950 are excellent as well. For me the convenience, length of runtime, and performance of going lipo for the servos is worth it. YMMV
