RC Driving Style
I have a Megatech 16 engine in my Tmaxx. This thing has really been running great until I broke the throttle arm that connects the carb to the throttle linkage. I went to the local hobby shop and I could not believe it but they had a replacement. I get the new one installed and my truck has been running like crap ever since. One day I have power and the next day none. Today I was going to run all day but my truck was shutting off every time I tried to go fast. First I tried leaning it out, and then I tried richening it up. I tried the high speed needle and then the low speed needle. I even tried changing the idle needle.

Ok here is what the engine is doing:
It is starting very quickly, 1st or 2nd pull
Driving the truck at a slow/medium speed everything runs great.

As soon as you punch the gas or even try to ease into full speed it dies.

OK here is what I have done so far:
I took of the clutch bell and checked that the spring was good.
I remounted the carb and exhaust header
I set the low speed and high speed needles to factory specs
With Radio on I set the idle needle to show a small opening.

AM I missing anything? The engine seems to have good compression.

That is a good start. So what is the temp when you doing high speed?

Maybe an air leak? Is there a lot of smoke comming out when you try to go to full throttle?

You guys don't get it cause your just pups. Us old farts get the joke

No air leak that I know of! I have noticed the engine running really hot for running just a few seconds. Weird?

Well, you really can't be sure you dont have an air leak, unless you sealed the carb and backplate.

Well since rebuilding it and cleaning it really good I have not tried to start it. Tonight when I get home from work I will start it up and see if it is any better.

aml, speak for yourself... i am not an old fart!!!!
and I am pretty sure that plaid has got some years on you and I as well...

but the joke is... well nevermind.. it is a long story.

Joker and Batman.

Anyhow, I was having the same problem Saturday morning. It finally has dried out and warmed up out here in SoCal. In my case, no airleak so it had to be the warmer, drier air causing this. Had to richen the mixture on the HSN to get it to run past half throttle. It was dying everytime it hit second or if I gave it WOT.

32 years young.....I'm not an old fart yet.....I'm a young fart.....fresh and smellin like a daisy....

Then you missed that we were talking like Batman? "POW BAM! HAHAHAHAHA"

Hey Revo Rancher! Did you try adjusting the Idle needle to let more air in?

No, the problem was WOT or full throttle. Idle needle adjustment would not change that problem. It just needed to richened up a bit. After two turns at 1/8 CCW it solved it.
