hey guy well I'm new to posting here but have been lurking for quite a while. but now i need some help hopefully you guys can give me some. well here is my problem.

i have a t-maxx with a mutant coolling head and well its been sitting for a while so i put in a ne glow plug and new fuel and well the truck idles perfecly, i can run slow speeds for hours but as soon as i try to gas it it dies I've tried leaning out richening I've even gone back to factory settings like a dozen times but to no avai. what do i do. the truck runs at an average 265. please help.

If you are good with tuning and feel confident it is not a needle setting issue, check that your fuel tank is sealing well, the fuel lines are not bleeding air and if you have a fuel filter that it is not clogged. Sounds like you are not getting enough fuel pressure so that is most likely the cause. Also, have you sealed your back plate and carb throat?

IF it's been sitting for a while, you may have to clean the engine. You may have some gunk which might be choking the fuel and air. I would replace all the fuel lines with new ones. And do a quick strip of the engine and clean it with denatured alcohol. Make sure you get the carb good. That's where I'd start.

First off, how old is the gas? Gas goes bad if you do not store it properly. Second, it sounds as if you are just adjusting the HSN and not the LSN.

What have you done exactly?

well i just bought a new gallon of traxxas 20% nitro fuel so only a few days old, i changed the plug like 2 days ago, replaced both fuel lines, and the lsn is at factory settings and i have ran about a gallon thru the engine since i bought it in january.

I agree with Candyman on this. All things being equal, take the mill apart and clean it out real good, especially the carb. I'd take the needles out and check the little seals. I usually soak my engine components in a mix of one part Simple Green and two parts denatured alcohol, scrub them with an old toothbrush, rinse in just the alcohol then blow compressed air through the block and carb throat to really get that crud out of there. Re-oil the bearings good and add a few drops of after-run oil in the sleeve before you put the piston back in.

When I reassemble it, I use RTV sealant on the back plate, the carb and on the manifold (where it bolts to the block). Make sure that sucker is air tight!

I'd also replace the O-ring on the fuel tank lid, just for good measure.

Good luck, man!

If it's idling smooth and not fluctuating you probably don't have an airleak.....when you go to give it throttle try revving it slowly til it really opens up then peg it....I know this isn't the best way to clean it out but sometimes I do it if I'm feeling lazy and don't want to tear a mill down to screws and seals (although that is the best way to do it)....also the LSN stock settings are usually a lil on the rich side......turn it in 1/4 to 1/2 turn.....265 is hot for a mutant head too.....that thing drops temps more than people realize.....whenever I use after market heads I temp the exhaust port and plug and use the avg between them as my reading....after market heads will drop temps but alot of them do it too fast so your tune turns too rich real quick, so you end up going leaner and most people will blow their mill not realizing the temps are just erradic and not a good way to tune your mill now......other than the 2.5 mill I don't use aftermarket heads anymore.......too many problems
