i just put in a new hi torque steering servo in my nitro sport(stock one),i was wondering that it seems it doesn't steer quite as quick as before, from left to right, did i put it in wrong,i don't think i did,it seemed that it was centered as well?any 1 know why, or is it normal.driving the car, it seemed ok,maybe it's just me

thanx for looking,

jay

Depending on your servo, most less expensive High Tq servos will be slower than most. Which one did you get? Do you have a rechargeable reciever pack? If not that will help with more tq and speed.

i had to set my trim all the way left to turn the wheels properly yesterday,i am thinking i have to turn on the servo before i install it to center it before putting the arms on? thanx guys

Not to derail the thread or anything, but I have a similar question about servos.

I have stock servos on my MGT and I'm just wondering, should the servos have enough power to turn the wheels while not moving? My truck has to be moving if I want to turn...

Jay, yes you have to remove the horn and turn it on to center it. That will give you full range of movement. The stock Traxxas hi-tq servo 2055, is slow. BUT it has enought tq for a ST.

eNforcer,You should be able to turn the wheels while sitting still. The stock sevos usually wont do this well.If your just bashing around, it may not be a big deal to ya. I do say MT's need a MG(metal gear) servo since the stock tent to strip after little time.

Chances are, the stock servos are not strong enough to turn the wheels at a standstill.. Most guys upgrade the steering servo on the MT's because of this problem.. I've had good luck with the Hitec High Torque servos. The best bang for the buck most times...

Most popular for steering in MT's is the:
Hitec 645MG

I went one step further and picked up the :
Hitec 5985MG Digital Coreless Ultra Torque servo (for my Savage)

Just remember if your using a stock radio, dont use digitals. Without setting endpoints, you will burn up the servo.

This will work with a stock receiver? And I wouldn't need to change the other two servos would I? I just want more power from the steering, the other servos are fine for the throttle and transmission.

The 645 will work, no problems. MAYBE have to trim a little of the plug to fit in your rx, depending on how it is. but it will work.
