Why would you want a new engine.Do you want a faster on?The one on it will be good for starting out.Just set the carb back to factori needle setting and go frome there.

not sure of the condition of the motor it's coming with. hard to tell with E-bay items. and yeah going faster might be cool too.

Do you know how to tune a motor? How much do u wanna spend on a new motor.Do you want a pulstart or non pullstart?

I know the basics of lean/rich carb adjustments. I'd prefer to go with a rotostart or similar set up in replacing the motor. is the RS4 chassis set up to use starter boxes? I'm not new to RC, but it's been about 10 years since I've dabbled in it.

Cool. Been browsing through the forums and found lots of useful info. I'll wait to see how the car arrives, what shape everything is in and what not. I'd like to get into racing this spring...so I'll wait to see what guidelines are set in that respect.

Dude wow what an INCREDIBLE Deal you have gotten on this car. I paid $270.00 for mine new without electronics at all. That is a great radio has some great hop ups to it already. If you are going to want to race you will probably want some adjustable turnbuckles. The THS Pipe and header are a great racing component already and the two speed is a necessity for racing as well. You really did get a good deal. Welcome to RCNT

cool. thnx for the welcome. yeah, I did some shopping around before deciding to go with e-bay. the way I figure...even if it does need some replacement parts and such, it was a deal that I couldnt pass. I used to have various electric buggies, then got into nitro when Traxxas released the Nitro Hawk. The Hawk was fun for about a month before it became undrivable and none of the local hobby stores carried replacement or upgrade parts. But it looks like the RS4 has a wealth of aftermarket hop ups available. can't wait to get it and start tinkering again.

great starter car and great deal congrats. the O.S. .15 cvr-x is a great engine better than the 12r, I swaped in the O.S. on my ss with the same ths pipe+header big differance !;)

Well the type ss baskcally comes with asjustable turnbuckles and a two speed transmission. If you look at the picture of the motor you will see solid camber links in the rear. It is like this in front as well. The RTR3 also came with an under powered 15 fe motor so the motor that is in there is a great upgrade. The 12RSS motor is a side exhaust engine. If it was rear exhaust you would see an exhaust port right above the pullstart backplate. The EVO is the updated versioni of the RTR 3. Basically just comes with a better motor and two speed is really the only difference. Whowever bouoght the car originally has put some good money into the car in upgrading the transmission, and the pipe and header. You will probably want to get some new tires though as those look worn. Later
