Hi guys, have been reading through all your posts and they have helped me a lot thankyou!

One question though. I have got my new Savage 25 set up & running pretty good, but I notice that it takes a while to start from cold I have to spin the motor over using the Rotostart for about 30 secs sometimes, than I usually just give the button quick presses as I hear the engine begin to fire up. After that, I leave it idling to warm up and it runs fine.
(Hot starting is instant, no problems there.)
Is this normal?
Any general tuning tips for the 25? Any help greatly appreciated!!
Just bought a tuned pipe (see here) and dual brake disk kit (see here) from Ebay, what other mods do you recommend? Air filter perhaps? Or reverse kit maybe?

Depends on the current temp during "cold start", if the outside temp is fairly cold then it will be more difficult to start, try to heat the engine with a hair dryer before you go out and try to do a cold start when it's cold outside (being below 40 degrees feirenheit), this should help.

Yes, i think so. Finger over the exhaust whilst cranking engine for a few seconds, to create vacuum and suck fuel through? Is this the best way (my 25 doesn't have a primer). I am a total newbie to nitro as I have always had electric cars before, so if you just assume that I know nothing, you'll be pretty much correct!!:shrug:

Alan: that is the right way to prime your motor on a cold start, when you start priming it watch for the fuel to go up the line to the carb and stop priming it when it reaches it. Savages are famous for being cold blooded. hope this helps

yeah mines does that every time its cold but like road range said try to warm it up with a hair dryer that will help .it helped me .

I would say that's normal. I live in Michigan where winter can be wicked cold most of the time, but we still manage to get out there and run our Savage in the cold. Yesterday it was pretty mild at 37 degrees F, but yes, it will take a while to start the engine (most any nitro engine in my mind) if the weather is cold. Try the hair dryer recommendation above, that works too.

Thanks for the help guys, it's around -3 deg C here at the moment so I'll try the hairdryer on it. I have a hot air blower too, for stripping paint and such. I'll try that but not too close - I don't want a melted Savage...... Hmmm mind you, that might be the excuse I need to replace all the plastic bits for Alloy bits!!!

LOL, now that's an idea Alan! I am also going to go with a lot of alloy parts, but right now work is slow and the budget is a bit tighter so my alloy parts are a piece at a time.........keep us updated as to how things are going with your Savage!
