the other day i was running my savage around and i noticed the rear wheels werent pulling much. well i though maybe something was wrong with a diff or whatever. i sat down and took apart the rear end, nothing wrong. i got to looking and the hex drive was really loose inside. i looked closer and i could spin the hex head by hand. the wheels were on tight so that wasn't the problem. was it just a fluke, or is this a common problem with stock wheels? i have the BB 21 still in it but with some minor porting i dont think it made that much of a difference. what sucks is i just droped my extra cash on other stuff so i have to wait a week to get some new wheels:doh:

Stock wheels suck.

Seems as if everyone has this problem sooner or later. I just wish HPI would step up to the plate, fix the problem and replace our rims.

I havent heard of ANY other brands having this problem. RPM will probably be your best bet as they have the best warranty.

Yup, that's a fact about the rims. They look so good, but suck so bad.

Is it sacreligious to put T-Maxx rims on a Savage? Also, my 2 sets of Hot Bodies rims are holding up exceptionally well.

Yep, my rims went out. So I got some HB rims with stock savage tire and the HB hex's and they haven't failed yet. I have probably over a gallon with the HB's

I've probably mentioned this before, but I found out a great way to fix the hex problem. First you remove the hex and the wheel. Clean the stripped out hex well, and the hex too. After that get your epoxy and mix it well-and apply to the wheel. Quickly put the hex in and make sure its lined up perfect. Let the epoxy dry for about 1 day and your set to go. I've done this about 4 months ago, and Its still holding up.

Ahhh~! Same problem here!! 7 wheels total with the ofna hyper 8.
At the hpi challenge, they only let you run stock wheels and tires. the stockers suck.
I brought as many wheels as I could get my hands on. came home with three in tact.
Terrible weak spot!!

what I did to fix the problem was wrap black electrical tape around the hexes one or two turns, trim off the excess and your left with a extra couple 100ths of an ince thickness on you hexes. I then wedged the modified hexes into the wheel holes and them seem to fit pretty snug, had to use the end of a screwdriver to tap them in, haven't tried them out yet, but I'll let you know how they weather.
