Here we go again, new truck #4… Redcat Ascent 1/18

I couldn’t resist, grabbed one of Redcat’s new mini crawlers… really nice right out of the box, but of course I’m already thinking about mods… probably wheels/tires first, then a little weight up front…

So far I’ve moved the receiver up front, raised the skid up, and trimmed the goofy looking (my opinion) fender flares off…

Pretty much the only thing I’m not crazy about is the wheel/tire combo. Not a fan of plastic wheels, and I feel like the tires are a bit too stiff. But for the price I can’t complain!

Injora <<<< Click I kind of like the white wheels but they are available in chrome or black too. the tire size is very close to the original just more aggressive.

I have that wheel/tire combo on my FCX24 Blazer! I really like them, but I tried them on this truck and I thought they were a little too narrow for my taste… and if I put them on this truck I’d have to find something else for the Blazer anyway…

I do have a set of wheels and tires “out for delivery”, I’m excited to see if they look as good as I think they will…

Small update. Made a quick stand for display/storage to prevent the tires from flat-spotting. Also ordered the red body from Redcat (I wanted the red one but the hobby shop only had blue trucks left… a new body from Redcat was more reasonable than I expected…)

As for the body, I really wanted to buy the truck from my local shop, they’ve been great to our crawler group, and they only had blue trucks left so I settled for blue. Then I saw they sold the red body separate so I got one ordered…

I don’t know… it was out for delivery expected by 6:30pm yesterday, then switched to “by end of day”, then said “delivery exception”. Today said out for delivery by 1:50pm, then by end of day. When I got home from work at 3:30pm I sat on my porch in a lawn chair and waited. Just after 4:00pm a plain white delivery truck stopped, the driver saw me on the porch, and he went in the back of the truck and came out with the package…

So I got my red body. A little frustrating but oh well… I’m happy now! And the truck looks great in red!

Fedex does that crap all the time. I finally figured out why a year or so ago. They hire random drivers who rent Uhaul trucks and such to deliver packages. Sometimes these guys get your package to deliver. Their trucks are not setup to deliver packages, so everything just gets piled randomly in the truck. They show up at your address, can't find your package, and you get that delivery exception.
