Here we go again...another problem to fix.Anyways today I set all my carb setting back to stock and found out that my LSN was 4 1/2 turns out. That may have been the problem. :smoke: Anyways I ran the truck once and it seemed to be doing pretty good on the stock setting but it sounded like it was getting to much fuel at low speed and high speed. So I turned to low speed in 1/2 a turn, and the high speed in 1/2 a turn.My truck dosn't coast by itself, thank god.So I don't have to mess with the idle screw. The second time I tried to start my truck is wouldn't start...finally it start but as soon as I took the glow igniter off it stalled. So I tookt he glow plug off and put it in the glow igniter and it hardly glowed. So I put a new one in my Savage. When I started it, it start right away.I pulled out of the garage and did half throttle untill I came to a dead-end an truned. Then I did almost full throttle and the truck just sat there spinning the slipper clutch. I walked up to it and the slipper clutch was slipping.(hints the name slipper clutch) Anyways I took it back to the garage and tightened to slipper clutch and it was still slipping.I got mad and tightened it all the way to see if it still slipped, and it did.The Gear has all its teeth still on it.But it won't stop slipping.Could this be that a put a new glow plug on it?I look at my origanl glow plug that came with the truck and it said R4 on it.And my new one said R3...This also happened to my brothers Savage when he switched to the new glow plugs we bought from our LHS.The new glow plug look like to old one except that have R3 on them...I am guessing that this means it runs hotter or colder...What should I do about the slipper clutch and if I have to buy replacment parts what do I need to buy?Sorry about the long post but I wanted to explain it as much as I could to prevent from haveing to explain more later.Any parts #'s would be nice. :)

My savage did that too. I found out my problem was there is suposed to be a little washer inbetween the gear and the spring. I lost it because I had to take it apart in order to put on a new gear. Anyway, have you ever taken it apart (the slipper clutch assembly)?

Nope I have never taken one screw out of the truck for anything, period.I looked at the slipper cluth in the middle (center of the gear) and it looked like it melted.I am not sure if it did or not...but if you could tell me some parts numbers that would be great.I would look in the book but I don't know what parts I need to assemble a whole new slipper clutch.

its not from changing your plug for sure. do you have the manual for the truck? look at the the truck then look at the instructions in the book to see if they look the same.

What tooth should I buy?I am not sure what tooth is on it now.It is the stock gear.

49T is the stock one on the SS, and the .25 i think. I have the SS so I know 49T is for that and I believe its the same for the .25. If not then its a 52T.

What one would be better?I am going to use it for all around driveing.Street, jumping, hills, etc.

hate my savage!

won't start, or it starts and takes off like a bullet, Now i'm off to buy my 3rd spur gear. While tuning the engine the clutch gets hot and melts the spur gear. My lhs said not to use the factory settings they don't work. I'm going to get a metal spur gear and hardened clutch bell, there about 30$ , this should give me more time to tune the engine.

it just takes time tuning it. calm down and maybe ask your lhs to tune it for you. some do. but one question. why in the world did you post that in this thread?? haha.

I would go with the 49T, it will give you a little bit more top speed. My savage with 15/49 gearing can do wheelies.
