Ok first I am new to Nitro, but I have been into the electrics since around 1995 (XX-T,tamiya 4wd sedan, evader etc)
I bought a Storm back in July and I am HOOKED. I just bought a new GS engine it has 2.4 hp vs. 1.9 for the stock....it is sick fast..just broke it in,

Now to the point, although I am a nitro somewhat newbie, I have been around the block and know how to trouble shoot.

MY problem is that when I start my savage it just takes of at full speed...my mean flat out 30,000 rpm
I know the usual things to check, like the throttle and does it return to closed when you take your finger of the trigger.
I throttle stays at idle but when I fire it up it just takes off full speed. I have caught it from running away several times by just holding onto the pull start.
ANY ideas...it's so wierd

It may sound stupid, but is your Transmitter turned on when you start it? just trying to help Steve

check the post from hellraiser, he sounds like he had the same problem that you are having Steve

Could sound like an air leak, or maybe the idle screw is to high so the carb aren’t able to close far enough, but must it sound like an air leak in my ears

I am not the shapest tool but I do turn my radio on before trying to start it, I check to see if the throttle servo is working. Then I put the glow ignigtor on, give a couple of pulls and the beast it running full blast. I even made sure that I saw that the throttle was closed.
Is there another needle that would cause the car to just jump to it's highest rpm?
OR could the clutch some how be stuck so that any turning of the flywheel would translate imediate speed.
Another thought that just hit me. Could the fuel line be kinked some where so that it runs balls out lean as most of us have experienced some time??????????
TIA,
~todd

look at ur radio, make sure u have ur knobs where u want one. i think u can have them R or N make sure the knobs are on N, becuz my firend was messing with my radio once and started up my savage and it took off hitting a parked car and broke the front springs, it was so damn funny too that he would pay for them:ahh: :ahh:

Thanks for the response.
Where should I look for an air leak? In the fuel line?

BTW, everyone I am using the JR radio that comes with the Storm
I have both models programed into the transmitter. I know how to switch between the two.
I have to start another thread to get an answer for this
