can anyone give me a list of all the tools that i will be needing for when i get my savage? thanks.

and whats the first few mods that i should do to it?thanks again

vince

The manual for the savage should give u a list of needed tools, but if i am correct - they will supply you with most of what u need.

thanks and I've heard that you should get a filter or somethin, does the savage already come with one or do i have to get a new one?

Most RTR cars/trucks come with just about everything you need to break it in. Of course you will usually have to buy Fuel, bateries and glow igniter. But there are TONS and TONS of things that can be done to the truck to make it "Better than stock".

One of the first few upgrades "I" would recommend is a better Air filter and adding a fuel filter.

the stock airfilters are adequate - not a manditory item, but its nice to upgrade, the mill will breathe better, and it is better for the engine. a fuel filter is a must. u can get them just about anywhere for between 3-10 dollars.

a fuel filter is suggested.. does not come with one, the stock air filter is good in all but very very dusty conditions.. it has small surface area so fills up pretty fast. then u run into danger of sucking dirth between the rubber and filter element..

tools.. i suggest buying a set of screw drvers, good quality, keep them as part of your rc equipment so you know where they are, i suggest a set of jewlers screw drivers or the very small phillips incase you need to open up a servo, receiver to let water out..

it comes with hex keys, they are ok.. but i do suggest real ones

a glow plug socket t hangle or the like, this will allow for wheel removal also, and there is usually one position perfect for the flywheel nut.

a bottle of loctite.. BLUE, use it it is your friend..

a can of marvols mistery oil.. its the same thng as after run oil, and u can use it to oil the air filter even..

i suggest a bottle of white lightning, sold at most bike shops.. it is a wax lubrecant thats self lubricating, i use it on all th edog bone to cup areas and see a major drop in wear of the cups since i started using it.

Ya, I also here that WD-40 is good stuff for air filters and afterrun oil also.

WD40 is good for afterrun but I would not use it as a filter oil as it is not sticky enough.

I don't use WD40 use something like 3 in 1 oil that is the stuff for the air filter.

i use transmission fluid as an air filter oil. it's the same consistancy as k&m's filter oil.

 Great Idea! I'm going to have to try that!

I have used 2 cycle oil from my chainsaw on the air filters for years and have had good results. It cleans out easily with some fuel and is cheap. I hate the sticky, messy R/C filter oils. I figured that when I raced dirt bikes the air filter was always coated with 2 cycle oil so how was an R/C 2 cycle any different except for it's size.

Somebody had a good idea for oiling air filters. Put your freshly cleaned foam element in a baggie and then drop the oil in. Seal the bag and massage it in. No muss, no fuss.
