Hello all,
We bought a parted out revo 3.3 off ebay and I have it almost 100% together. The last part I have to figure is on the hollow balls. I see that there are three parts...

TRA5355X TRA5355 and TRA5347

I have the aluminum rods and they came with rod ends. But no balls.

I'm very confused as to what I need. When I look at those three part numbers I see different sizes. I understand the tall cenetered and tall offset. Then I see that there are small ones, and I would think you need to use shims above and below them. But I can't find anything showing this, and only 4 shims seem to come with 5355 and 5347.

So my question is, if you have a revo with absolutely no balls (lol) what do you need to buy. Is TRA5355X going to include everything I need to setup the truck? Or do I need spacers also?

I don't have another revo to look at so it makes it hard to do from the traxxas blow up diagrams. Can some one post pics of both ends of they rods installed on the truck, so I can see how these balls are installed and shimmed.

Thanks,
Chris

You will want to order a Hollow Ball Kit in either stock or aluminum. This will meet all of your needs. I am at work right now and can't picture which Hollow Balls are used on the pushrods(These are the rods that attach your rockers to your suspension).

The turnbuckles(connected to the steering arms and the axle carrier) can have a variety of different set-ups at the front wheel. That is were the "shims" come in. This is where you get into the whole 'bump steer" thing. Standard for the rear seems to be the tall center mount hollow ball.

Anyway, If you do not get another response to this....I will look at mine when I get home and let you know which part goes where....

I have the pushrods installed already. Luckily they came with the hollow balls.

Here is where I am getting confused. The tra5355 comes with like 30 balls, 2 tall centered, 2 tall offset and two shims. I can see that the qty 30 balls are used all over the place. They seem to be the same balls that are on the shocks, they are on both ends of all the pushrods, and the servo linkages for the steering. I'm getting lost when it comes to the turnbuckles for the front and rear. It doesn't seem like the 2 tall centered, 2 tall offeset, and 2 shims are enough for all four turnbuckles.

Every piece of the truck is fully assembled and working. The only pieces I have left to install are rims/tires, the engine, and all four turnbuckles.

I have all 8 screws to attach the turnbuckles. I have all 4 turnbuckles the red aluminum ones) and all 8 rod ends. So what else would I need to buy to get them installed? Just part number tra5355x? Or do I need to buy more then one to get enough shims for the whole truck. Thats what's royally confusing me. lol

I think I actually just figured it.

Looks like thos small balls install into the rear bulkheads and the front steering servo with no shims.

You use the shims or tall balls in the knuckle connection. That's where I was getting confused I though both ends of the turnbuckles needed shims. Just the knuckle end does though. makes more sense. It looks like the qty 2 tall centered in the kit tra5355x would go in the rear knuckles, and then you would use a standard hollow ball and put both shims under it for the front knuckles.

I think it all makes sense to me know.

You don't necessarily have to shim the front. You can use the default Tall Center in the front as well....The shims and such are for Race Set ups....Check out some of Slaydon's Race set ups on the Traxxas page........
