Help with GT2

Whats up everyone. Just found this website. Pretty cool stuff.

I recently finished putting together a GT2 factory team kit. I wanted to get a pullstart but was told it would take a ton of modification to convert it. So I bought a CV-R .18 and I'm in the process of trying to break in the motor. The thing is tight as hell though. Kinda havin' a hard time even though I just bought a 100 dollar starter box. Is it too late to convert to a pullstart? Maybe a dumb question but I've had a pullstart before and it was SOOOO much easier. Any advice would be appreciated.

what you can actually do is take a screw driver and crank it over once then roll it back so you can get at least one stroke in there before trying to fire it up. my o.sTZ did the same thing. Actually I'm gunna have to do the same thing again i just rebuilt it >.<

I'd recommend ya invest in a good heat gun, and warm the head up to at least 175-180 degrees. This alone will make cranking the engine over a lot easier during the first 10 tanks. After this, you won't need the heat gun again until you rebuild.

And for the pullstart mod, I think you would need a new motor mount and exhaust header. A pullstart flywheel is optional. The best way to figure out what you'd need is to look in the manual; AE usually tells you what you'll need to bolt in a pullstart (they print one manual all of the factory team, team, and rtr versions in one).

You may need more, as the GT2 is a slightly different truck than the GT, design wise.

Thanks for the responses. Feelin' a bit better about this. The starter box is all dialed in with the placement pins in the right spot and it puts out plenty of power to turn the engine over. Can't fire it up in the apartment but I'm confident it would

To break the engine in right, I need to just let it idle for a couple tanks right? Then after that just go easy on the throttle?

About the heat gun....will a little travel hair dryer work?

There are several different methods people use; I use my own method, but others will say to use the heat cycle/bess method (can be found in a sticky in the powerplant section).

go with what the manual tells you. I usualy feel more confident with that if I'm not sure.

The "travel" hair dryer may not put out enough heat to expand the sleeve properly. You can always try it and see if it will.
