help with backpate

could some one give me instructions on how to install the back plate on my picco so i can use my roto start? the intructions that came with it suck

I actually used a different adapter that replaced the factory hex/shaft combo with one that had a longer shaft with a spacer on the outside. This way I didn't use one of the adapters like you see in the auction. Mine works great, but the vast majority are done using one of the above adapters...

Yes you should use the adapter to help keep the hex shaft pushed into the engine so it can't slide out too far.

what happens if it comes out too far? is that why it called for putting that spring back in there?
