A friend of mine stopped by today and gave me something her son had "Out grown" since he recently got married. AhHahahahah. I think I got the better part of the deal.
It's HPI, 2 batteries, TX-2 controller and foam street tires. Hardly a mark on the bottom, and the body has never done a shiny side slide.
4 wheel drive, belt driven. What is it, and what type of body would fit it?

HPI Sprint is my guess. Congrats on the new rig! I loved my touring/drift rigs.

I haven't even dusted it off. It's seriously clean!
I want to change the body to something a little more exotic than the Honda it has now.
She said she thought it was about $350 new. Does that sound about right?

Maybe. Prolly kinda old so it prolly cost alot more a few years ago then a new one would now. I think you can the Sprints with flux rtr's for like $300 or so now but I havent checked into one in a while.....

I've been checking around since you gave me a starting point, and couldn't find a match. I was looking for 10 spoke white wheels, CF upper and lower plates and foam street tires. The closest I came up with was a Sprint 2 Sport, and it had treaded drift tires, 6 spokes and an open cell battery pack.
Then I finally searched a little deeper and came up with the Sprint RTR. Same radio, same wheels, but just the nylon upper and lower plates. This would either have been an upgrade or a later model.
I just might go brushless if I like it.

Sweet shell. I would suggest you joinin some VRC before you take your onroad out but but we all know that's not going to happen. Actually, neither will :)

The S7 is a sweet lid. I have one for my RS4, and in full on Rolex mode it's never been on the car and sits on the shelf with a couple of other "show" bodies. What can I say, I just like painting and trimming shells!

YOU DA MAN !!! :first_place:

The new lid just shipped today. I think it comes with light buckets for a really scale look.

Thanks man...

I thought my version of "Lizstick Red" looked cool, then NC had to post his creation...

I wish I had skills like that. Then again, I'd have to get a real airbrush too!

Hey Ralph, I think it's an RS4 Pro2. It's the only one I've seen with all the carbon fiber.

You GOT it! I did some checking on it, and it's the only one with the Carbon fiber upper and lower plates and shock towers. Everything else matches, including the ESC.

The Saleen body arrived 20 minutes ago. SSSSSwwwwweeeeeet !!

EDIT:

The RS4 Pro 2 has been given an overall rating of TEN out of TEN by R/C Car magazine! This is the highest rating yet given to any kit by R/C Car, and you can bet we are proud of it! Get your April 1999 copy of R/C Car and read the article for yourself, and don't miss the other two articles featuring the Super Nitro RS4 and the RTR Nitro RS4.
The RS4 Pro 2: rated a '10' by R/C Car magazine!

It's gonna' be a week or two till I can set up for painting, and I have to finish a body for someone else before I get to this one.
I always like to do some research on body styles to figure out what color patterns I might want to go with.
Since this is my first on-road car, I really want to do it up first class.

You must paint the light buckets in a charcoal color. I used Pacta Acryl pearl charcoal which was perfect. I did a good bit of research prior to painting the one I did, and all of the 1:1s had charcoal light buckets.

Thanks for that tip, since most cars I see in real either match the car or are black.
I just finished cutting and trimming the body, but it's gonna' be a while before it goes to paint.
I wish these companies would STOP putting dimples where the body posts and antenna are SUPPOSED to be. On WHAT car? Certainly not on this one. There are 2 dimples on the hood over an inch from where they should be.The rears are off by another half inch.

Joe, you're absolutely right on the light buckets. Painted on the top side, in satin flat.
