:whhooo::angry:Hi all, I myself am a SAVAGE GUY, but my son in WV has a T-maxx, which brings me to my reason for posting, I live in Arkansas now but my son and daughter live with their mom in WV. When I called today my son was in tears, I asked him what was wrong and he said, " Sis got mad at me and threw my T-maxx in the swimming pool. Well, so we can skip the reasons and get on with my question, What all will i have to replace on this truck to get it up and running? Electronics are a given, but any thoughts on the engine, trans, diffs, looking for some advice?

Nothing. Take a hair dryer to the electronics and try to dry it out really good. Also, spray some WD40 into the carb and thru the glow plug hole and turn over the engine for a while. WD40 is used for water displacement (WD). You could even spray it over the electroncs to get some of the water out. I have dunked my Tmaxx before and did what I explained, I didnt replace anything and am still using the same engine and electronics as I was when this happened...almost 2 years ago!

Yeah theres a good chance nothing got really messed up. How long till he got it out of the pool? Just try to do like theant said and get it all dried out. The electronics "might" have problems but theres a good chance they will be fine.

water in rc? i started carrying water in a jar, on bashings, cause it will put out nitro fires. i for got to label it. my son put the water in his jato. after it was turned over, we finally fuigered it out. dumped the water out, put fuel in, started it , and was ok.

yep just make sure to not turn it on for about 3 days after you dry it out really well. get some new fuel or wd40 in the carb as already said to stop rust. nitro loves to absorb water. worst case scenario youll need a receiver and 2 servos.

you can also soak the electronics in denatured alcohol. it will displace the water, and then evaporate faster.

take the plug out and fill the engine with WD40 to get all the water out of that. then dump it and put some ARO in there while you work on the other parts.

clean the filter!!

you may have water in the tires. It is a PITA to get out. but there is an easy way.

Take about an 8th inch drill bit, and drill 4 to 6 holes around the tire on the tread side, in the middle of the tread. Start driving slow and watch the waterworks. slowly get faster and faster until it slings all the water out.

Huh??? So mash rice all over the electronics.....I think I would stick with WD40, ARO, Dnat alcohol...conventional methods of ridding the truck of water.

rice is a very conventional method, and has been used many many times. Put the devices in a zippy bag full of dry rice. The rice will wick the moisture away and lock it in the rice. similar to silica packs in electronics packages.

if you do this, and combine it with a warm location, it works even better.

or try pulling electronics and use rice it absorbs water

My apologies then, I stand corrected!!:D It just sounded like a very off the cuff method to use and therefore I immediately called BS....Sorry aboout that tmaxxman58.

this method is used quite a bit when a cell phone goes for a swim. It will pull the moisture out of the case without having to take it all apart. I've also heard of people putting the whole setup in the oven set on like 100 or 120. just some heat, not enough to melt anything.

hey thanks, well it was in the pool overnight. he fished it out the next morning when he saw it. I am having his mkom box it up and send it to me so i can get it straightened out for him for summer. this has been one of the best trucks both he and i have ever owned, i am a savage guy but in my opinion, its just a choice thing like chevy and ford. i'll post more as i get it apart and inspect it. hate to see such a good truck get dumped on. on a good note though, his grandfather offered him a new t-maxx 3.3 to make up for it, so maybe i'll just keep it back for a spare or i could sell it. undecided !

If there was no power running through the electronics when it was tossed in there they are fine. The only reason electronics get ruined in water in the first place is because theres electricity running through them and the water makes the electricity skip to areas it shouldnt.. but if it was off i think youll be ok, like some one said use a hair dryer. and clean the engine out well.. What would also work great is if you had an air compressor or even if you bought compressed air at like a store just to pin point certain areas to dry.

One thing is forsure, is you DO NOT want to try to run it with any moisture in the servos receiver engine etc. make sure every thing is DRY DRY.. and after youve done that try it out. Might aswell try to dry it up and see how it works before jumping to conclusions and buying alll new electronics. Good luck !!
