i was wondering if scuffing the bead on the tire and rim and then cleaning them with rubbing alcohol would be a bad idea before i glue them.
both the wheels and tires are brand new

Thanx a ton ralph. . .this is the 2nd time i have ever done this and the first time was an epic fail

There is a release agent on any plastic material, and most rubber contains oils. If the rims are chrome, you should actually scuff the bead with a rotary wheel in a Dremel to rough it up or remove it.
Denatured alcohol in a hardware store contains no water and works best for cleaning the rubber edges.

no the wheels aren't chrome they are pure white HPI Blast wheels that I'm dying black

Make sure to give a good wipe down AFTER any scuffing to remove debris. Scuffing and cleaning is a must. You'll need less glue = less mess.

got them all scuffed, cleaned and glued and it seems like the glue is holding sooo much better than ever before, thanx for all the input guys. . .i know that was a crazy noob question but like i said before it was only the 2nd time i ever glued tires

Glad it worked out well. I did not scuff/clean the first set of tires i glued. I though CA glue would hold anything. I used so much glue and after everytime i run them, there are always spots that get unglued.

well this set is going on a brushless erevo(full size) that i consistantly run on 6s. . .so we'll see how they hold up

uh...good thing you scuffed them first. :)
What kind of tires are you running?
