hello all, been watching for a while now but my truck starting giving me trouble tonight so its a good excuse for my first post. took my truck out earlier and upon engagement it makes a clicking sound, i believe its either a stripped gear in my tranny or my clutch. i have a metal spur gear and metal clutch basket. what does the problem sound like
 
If your problem is there, the damage should be visible. If those look good, it's very common to hear a clicking from a diff going bad.
 
when i hold the truck in the air and spin the rear tires with my other hand the front no longer spins so maybe it is the diff. hmm ill have to take another look. any other things i should look for>?
 
turned out to be a stripped primary gear. parts are on the way.
