okay, here's my problem, i had my new savage 4.6 changed to a pull start, last week the pull start broke and i had to replace it. when i took it apart, i thought i'd lost the spring, so i put in a new spring and yesterday i went to fire it up for a test run. it started and ran for a few seconds then quit. i could not get the engine to turn over even after removing the glow plug so i took the engine out and took the pull start and backing plate off for a closer look. the spring i thought was lost was still inside the engine. i removed what was left of the old spring and the mill seemed fine. so i put it back together. but here's the problem, it turns over freely a couple of times then locks up tight, i checked and there's no more obstructions inside the engine. the only conclusion i can reasonably come to is that the crank is bent. sleeve, piston, rod all look good but somethings locking this mill up. WHAT DO YOU THINK? kdogg:angry:

Pull the block completely apart and flush it out with some fuel you still may have pieces in there. By pulling it you are only making it worse if there is pieces in there. Inspect every piece for damage and replace the ones that are messed up. Put it back together and turn it over without the plug in it and see if it still hangs up. If it hangs up with the plug is out you may want to start shopping for a upgrade motor lol.....

I say this because if one piece is messed up how do you know for a fact everything else is fine? The motor may turn into a money pit and it may be better to cut your losses now.
