I just bought a 3.3 and waiting on it to get here but this is my first nitro have only had electric and was hoping someone could give me as much knowledge as I need to keep from killing it.Also I kinda run everything I have wide open so you might as well tell me the weak points of these trucks so I can go ahead and order the stuff I will break while getting the hang of it.I read about after run oil and again dont laugh just have no idea about these so any detailed info about maintaining the truck would be great. As far as buying upgraded parts tell what and where to get and I will buy it.

you came to the right spot. first of all, dont get ahead of yourself. do the break in and do it right. if you dont, this is what you can expect. after maybe a gallon of fuel you will have a very hard time tuning, wich means you will spend more time chasing after it and restarting and over heating it. you will never get top perfomance. it may seem quick, but will soon die off... that means no wheelies!! it wont take long before it is a smoked motor and your back to those little batteries.... onto the next.. get yourself a temp gun.. and use it all the time. if you notice it getting too hot. shut her down.. let it cool off and simply retune. expect to do that often till you get the hang of it.. if you dont bother to learn the tuning part you will have a hard time getting thru a full tank without problems.. once you start to figure out how to run it cool, you will be able to run tank after tank. wich is were the fun starts!! a lesson that i learned: if you have a problem starting it, or keaping it running, wich eventualy you will, dont kill yourself hitting that little red start button.. just stop and go thru the process of illimanation. is it priming itself.air leak.plug.carb settings.and compression. just becouse it ran fine the last time, doesn't mean it will run fine the next time.. NEXT: i know its hard to do, but its part of keeping it going and allowing it to start on your next outing. do your after run maintonance. pull the wheels off dust or shoot with wd-40, empty fuel tank, and put after run oil in it(you already know)the reson why you HAVE TO put after run oil in is becouse nitro fuel has an alcohol content.. alcohol will quickly attract moister(over night! not joking) the moisture will creat a surface rust inside your SEALED motor. you may have a hard time starting, or you may not. but you will get a surface rust on the inside of your motor... i dont have too tell you, but i will...THATS NOT GOOD.. other then that.... youl be just fine.. i wish i could help you on your t-max parts. but dont have one... so, congrats, welcome, bash on... and PLEAASE dont hesotate to ask questions...WE LOVE THEM!!

bulkheads aarms hingpins depending on how hard you beat it maybe your skid plates and shocks bend fairly easily go all aluminum with rpm aarms and big bore shocks youll be good to go and maybe some titanium hinge pins to

Thanks for the info was also wondering if the air filter is something I need to change and also which is the best I see that K&N makes one.

thats a goody! traxxas is great for puting 2 air filters in the box. so you should have an extra. they should be fine for awhile, but the traxxas air filter housing is kinda crappy. there is a mesh screan over the top that is glued on that will eventually fall off.lots of folks run a 2 stage air filter. you can pic them up at your hobby shop for about $7 or so as well as a trick fuel filter for bout $5. thats very imprtant if your going to be filling your fuel tank when its dirty. its easy for crap to fall in there and run thru your motor.. i forgot to mention that you need to clean your air filter after every run as well.. just rinse it out with soapy water and re-oil with the suplied air filter oil. if sand or even road dust gets in there it can roll around in the cylinder for a couple of strockes. wich will lead to instint cylinder scratches...

Thanks for the info was also wondering if the air filter is something I need to change and also which is the best I see that K&N makes one.
i dont sugest that you look at the k&n's... they look trick and all, but dont do a good filtering job... doul stage is a great way to go.. specially if your gona bash in the dirt and water and such... when the k&n's get wet, its a soggy mess..

yeah k&n has to big of filter lets loads of crap in

Yeah I see a lot of engines with K&N Filters on them, I ask them why they have it any they say since it looks like a real air filter it'll work on a nitro car, WELL WRONG. The best air filter you should have on a nitro engine is dual stage one.

Sine you're going to be bashing hard, I would definitely stay away from aluminum arms. Get yourself a set of RPM A-Arms. I think they're my best RC investment ever besides buy the winning lotto ticket for the 5B. They are really tough and they will give some when you crashm where aluminum bends and stays bent and you have to replace them, these will stay in shape like new through almost any torture.

I see no one has said much about a pipe am i safe in assuming stock one is good enough.

the plastic one? I heard from my lhs that you can mail your recipt to traxas and they will send you a metal one???? Anyone else heard this?

What you are going to need, for a great basher is a couple of things. You are going to want and invest on aluminum bulkheads. Then you would want to go ahead and get RPM a-arms all the way around. Unlike aluminum, they will not stay bent and if you EVER break them, they are replaced for free. Your pipe i believe, since you just bought it, should be the resonator tuned pipe they have with all there new 3.3's, so that should work plenty fine. Get you self a good two stage air filter and stay away from the K&N's. Also get a inline fuel filter. Invest also in some good hinge pins and turnbuckles. Some aluminum skid plates as well too. And also depending on where you live, a set of tires. Thats just about all that you will need to have it running strong and last forever.

Zachary.

yeah right now with the purchase of any 3.3 revo or tmaxx traxxas will send you there resonater pipe for free

What makes me mad about that is that the day before I bought it Traxxas had the same deal... When I bought it I found a pamphlet in the box but it was too late...
