Hi can any body tell me if you can tell if an engine is run in properly. I bought a second hand kyosho truggy with a GXR28 engine and the engine seems to overheat occasionaly and sometimes it will run fine there is a steady plume of grey blue smoke when accelerating also the pull start is a nightmare i have just replaced the whole thing including axel that locks on the con rod also all o rings and back plate also the collor that replaces the one way bearing and then the pull start its self but it is still crap help me pleeeeeease.

just take the engine apart, whats wrong should be clear. buy the parts , put them in, drive it like you stole it. the end

You do know that you have to make minor tuning adjustments on day to day basis - right?
That could easily be why it's fine sometimes, hot others.

To check how well broke-in the engine is,pull the plug and turn the flywheel by hand. A newer engine will still have a drag past TDC and a completely broke-in engine will turn freely. Then with the plug in it should be tight with compression at TDC,hot or cold.

i may sound thick but what is tdc .it does drag on the downward stroke if that is what you mean well it did the engine blew up today the conrod is bent and snappe at the crank connector and the piston is smashed also the piston liner wedged on to the glow plug spacer at the bottom of head any ideas what caused it? should i repair parts or buy a replacement engine :\

TDC is top dead center. There's also HSN or LSN for high or low speed needle. Each one does a different job. Too lean will overheat your engine. Too rich will make it sluggish.

Wow that sucks. Check prices, some high end engines are worth the rebuild, lower end are usually just replaced when they die.
