I've got a few problems, that I know of.

First problem- When I first got my car, I was at about 300 feet above sea level, and now I'm at 7000 feet. Do I need to richen the fuel mixture, or lean it out?

Second- I have a 2-speed tranny on there, but it never shifts into 2nd gear. I don't know how to adjust it, so can anyone help? I have a HPI RS4 3 RTR.

Third- Somewhere around my engine, I seem to always find some kind of liquid- either oil or fuel. I'm not sure what it is, because I can't get to it without a rebuild of the car.

Any help is appreciated!

Hello,

..i pass on the altitiude thing but i've got some help for your other issues. with the HPI 2 speed, check out the manual, there is an adjustment/engagment set screw in the 2nd gear hub that you can adjust; if my memory serves me correct loosen = later shift tighten = sooner shift... The "oil" you speak of should just be the engine lubricant seeping out of the crank bearing...no biggie (hpi use to make an oil catch for this issue a few years back)...if it makes the engine "un-tuneable" or you see a significant decrease in power THEEEEEEN you might have an air leak...good luck w/ your ride :)

don't mess with the shift points just yet, you are probably running too rich, lean it out little by little and see if you can heard the engine shift. make sure you don't go too lean.

Lean it out. The air is thinner as you go up in elevation. This causing an engine tuned at a lower elevation to get flooded.

ARE YOU sure it is not shifting? Does it rev high constantly or does it sound like it could keep going higher?

It is called nitro residue. It is the unspent fuel that is spread mostly near the engine and pipe. Nitro cleaner or Denatured alcohol will get it off your chassis and mill. Not electronics safe!!

Like jon2 said its nitro residue but i wouldnt worry about having to rebuild the car your going to have to sooner or later. Might as well start early and learn how everything goes.

If there is residue in the form of liquid around the engine, check the exhaust gastket. It sounds as if it's torn or not seated properly due to either a loose spring (rear exhaust) or loose manifold bolts (side exhaust).
