RC Driving Style
Hi folks - new to this forum and wondering if you can help me out. I've got a Savage MT, but that's my only RC experience. I was recently given an HPI RS4 w/o any documentation and I know nothing about it.

I've looked around HPI's site, and there seem to be many generations/variation of the RS4. How can I identify which one I have? I can tell you a few things:
- it's got the Nitro Star 15 FE engine
- it has the 'x' pattern tires
- purple alum skid plate
- single speed trans
- all wheel drive
- appx 10 1/16" wheel base (that's the thing that seems odd to me looking at body sizes.....)

Anything else I can look for to ID it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rich

if its got the .15 fe it shouldnt be too old.an rs4 3 for sure since its got that engine. tell me this are the rims dark gray? if so its definitly an rs4 3 is a belt drive system or a shaft?

it's not the RS4 3 version since that version comes with the-15 engine which is the 3rd version of the original RS4 with the 15FE engine which only has a single needle compared to the pgraded T-15 on the RS4 3 which has the 2 needle carb and is also a 2 speed. The RS4 is a single speed.
The RS4 - 15FE
The RS4 SS - 12R SS
The RS4 3 - T-15 with rotary start

I have the RS4 3 which I am happy with the hop ups I added to it. THS pipe, carbon shock towers, foam tires, adjustable turnbuckles, modified throttle linkage, hump pack rechargable battery, FM reciever, Hi tec 645 steering servo, sway bar set, spring set, CVD's.

If it is shaft drive its the third generation which isn't too old. If it has belt drive it is either the first (I doubt it) or the sencond generation.

Thanks for the info. It's shaft drive and the .15 FE has the single needle carb. Rims are off-white. That's not to say someone didn't modify this car, but it *appears* to be all stock....

Not sure if I'll keep it or not. If I do, I'll look into some hop-ups. The 2 speed trans sounds fun. The steering keeps slipping; I either need another servo-saver or some other kind of steering linkage. Open to opinions there, but I'll search around a little too.

Thanks again!
Rich

If it's shaft drive, then it's a 1st gen NRS4 3. Yes, I know the new NRS4 3 comes with the T-15 and roto-start. But the original NRS4 RTR3 (which is the one I have) came first with the old standby .15FE with single needle carb. Same one that came in the original Nitro RS4 RTR.

the newest one is the evo which is the newest one. but the old one is the rs4 3 too.

lol - only a *little* confusing.... Really though, thanks for all the help! Where's the best place to learn about hopping up this bad boy?
