My brand new RC10 GT2 gas tank is cracked underneath!!

I noticed a small leak at first and lately its just been pouring out and running out of nitro in like 5 mins

Is this something that can be repaired?

Or should I just replace the tank?

I would replace the tank unless you know someone that does plastic welding and that will not charge you a fortune to do it. The tank on the RC10 series has always been it's weak spot...

put a little silcone caulk on the outside (if you have some) if not buy a new tank there only like 10 $ right

Silicone has never worked for me when it comes to a nitro tank. The fuel eats it up for some reason. I dunno why--fuel lines are made with silicone...

I know there are guys that modify LST tanks by removing the primer and use Gorilla Glue, but that usually never comes in contact with fuel. This crack, being at the bottom of the tank, is a bugger of an issue. If it were me I would just spend the $8.00 and replace the tank. But what do I know...

IMO, just replace the tank. Tanks are relatively cheap and if you "kinda, sorta, maybe" fix the cracked tank, you'll be wondering why you didn't just spend $8 on a new one after you spend a day trying to get your tune right

I agree, but in a pinch I have used a soldering iron to melt a little plastic on the tank then added more junk plastic to cover it better.

Worked pretty well.

thanks for the advice guys - new tank should be coming from RC10 if they acknowledge this.....

question - how can a cracked tank mess with the tune?? is the stock tank presuurized (or vacuumed) ??

Yes, it is a pressurized system. Exhaust pressure pushes the fuel out of the tank and to the engine. A leak like this will cause your fuel pressure to be erratic. Watch your fuel line--you will see air bubbles in it. This also leans out the fuel mixture!

dude this explains everything. YES i had air bubbles in the fuel line from day one. also AE recommends 2 1/2 turns out on the high needle - was WAYYY too lean wondering why i had to run it at over three full turns just to get it to run right. and this was during the break-in procedure.

I'm pretty pissed off to say the least.
