Most heat sinks come in a specific color, mine is purple..... Would it damage the sink to wire brush this off back to bare metal? Its just aluminum so it wont rust..
Any thoughts.
or can i spray paint this with high temp barbecue paint.
would that damage the engine in any way? maybe hold heat in?

You are better off using Greased Lightning to remove the purple anodize. Just let it soak in the stuff and watch the purple come right off with no scrubbing.

I agree with Robmob, just don't paint it after. I would think that would hold heat to the head.

yea remove the ano then you can polish it or leave it raw for the brushed look. you could even hit it with a wire wheel for a bit of texture

Ok, i tried to take it off but i can't get the bolts out. Should i just leave it alone? or risk stripping them

I'm guessing from the name of your car that it's either a vx-18 or vx-16. It'll have 7 cooling fins and 4 head bolts. If I'm right I wouldn't take it off since the metal is cheaper than dirt and strips very easily. I'm not talking about the screws either.

the car is a master VH-X5.
I've decided to just leave it.
i hate purple though
