Heat gun

With the erratic temps were gettin here on the east coast (32 today...60 by Thursday) its really cutting into my RC time. I find it harder and harder to start my rides in the cold. The s25 in the Savage just WILL NOT fire under 40 degrees.

I know I know... I can crank up the heat to inferno in the car and leave the ride inside for 20 min But I'm the impatient type. So, I'm wondering, do they make heat guns you can plug into your cars 12v power port (aka cigarette lighter)? I've been searchin for about 2 hours now and dont see any. I'd rather not have to buy a converter but it looks as I may have to.

Anyone know where I can find such a thing?

You could do a search for 12v hair dryer(they get way hot). You could also do a search for 12v heater. Some 12v heaters put out a lot of friggen heat.

Let us know what you find. Oh BTW schucks auto supply has a 2 socket inverter for $39.99

I would just get a ac to dc converter and buy an industrial heat gun. That will warm you up FAST..

Yeah, I think a power inverter would do the trick. Plug it into your lighter and you're in business.

how bout a torch? I think you can go to home depot and get a torch for right around $10. Plus you never know when youll need a torch.

As fun as that may be, I can see the head getting warped or some other part damaged. Hey its your truck so you do what ya want. I would go with the heat gun and ac/dc converter

With a small propane torch turned down low you could heat the rc to a any temperature you wanted, as slowly as you wanted. Ya just got to know how heat it without putting direct flame to it.


On second thought...Open flame..empty tank... full of fumes..car bomb.. bad idea.. with as much fuel as we have around these r/c's any ope flame would be a huge liability.

An inverter would be your best bet... You then have the option of bringing your charger and other good stuff to your bash's.. An industrial heat gun is a tad overkill for an R/C engine, unless you live in the Arctic. Just get a cheap hair dryer & you'll be good to go...

i can just imagine an r/c on fire from a torch but its a good plan if you want to spend the cash for a new engine and youll also need to have a small fire extinguisher would be good if you still want to torch the engine heat guns can get up to about 300+ degrees

The problem with the heat gun and inverter idea is that the heat gun draws about 1,000 watts. Those $40 inverters are probably only 200-300 watts.

How about those 12v wrap-on tire warmers? Trinity I think. You could warm it up on the way to the track.

ok that is a good point but a normal hair dryer will suffice. The Industrial one is damn cool though.

I am not doing a search for hair dryers. Then again My other choice would be to actually look for one at a store.. Hmmm

I 'll get back to you. I am sure there are ones that actually work within the power limitation.
