Heat cycling

I did a quick search on heat cycling and nothing I found said to warm it up first. From what I understand, the purpose is to put the engine through the temp ranges, so I would think heating it up first would take some of the cycling away.... But heating up the engine makes it a little bit easier to crank over when you're breaking in, so it may help with that but I don't believe that it's necessary to "properly" heat cycle an engine.
BTW, here's a good how-to on heat cycling that I found on a previous post: https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=80098#post80098

Depends on how 'cold' that your 'cold' is. If its almost snowing outside, then YES, ABSOLUTELY, heat that pig up. If its shorts weather warm, then no. But I would at least make sure the temp is upwards of 70 degrees farenheit or starting will be a bitch. Not to mention, you could snap a pullstart.....

thx for the info guys, just wanted to make sure, me thinks ill heat a little to get it started.
