Question:

Aside from trying to find a header made by Sirio for the discontinued Sirio .18 that I have in my maxx (which still runs great.... good job, Trinity </sarcasm>), are there any replacement headers from other manufacturers that will fit as well or the same on the engine? If it matters, I'm mating it up to a Sirio Big Bore pipe. After pulling the engine for a differential rebuild, reinstalling it and getting some tuning done, I wheelied over without the body while doing a test run and the header ended up being slammed against the rear shock tower, putting a nice crease in it. \:

Thanks for any info, guys.

Anyone? Or is it standard enough that any rear exhaust header will do?

What did you figure out? I just bought a Sirio .18, and was hoping to reuse my MIP header, and Traxxas allum. pipe, but the header doesn't fit. Also thinking of getting the Sirio BB pipe. How do you like it?

Actually, I just covered the tip of a flat head and straightened the header out as much as possible. The replacement from Star/Trinity was ridiculously priced.

Beyond that, I'm not using the .18 at the moment (until I can dremmel a couple of stripped head bolts off and find a piston/sleeve replacement).... went ahead and picked up a Sirio .23.

try the fantom .18 header....you might need to push it in a little though....just heat it up a little and pull the pipe side of it w/ pliers....should give ya what you need....

I used McCoy MC8's in the .18 almost exclusively. Very consistent.

Finally finished breaking in the .23 with the same MC8's, though it ate 3 of them during the process. That seems to have stopped, and again... good reliable power, good temps, and perfect idle/tuneability.

Plaid: I'll check that out. Hopefully a shop here locally has one that I can check out "in person".

My .18 came with the turbo plug button. What plug would you suggest for that? Can you buy the reg plug button seperate anymore?

It didn't come with the standard plug port at all? Was it a used engine? Mine came with both (in the black vynil Sirio case).... turbo plug button was in the bag/not the one installed.

About the Sirio BB pipe... it's fantastic. I've seen claims that you sacrifice some low end for more mid/hi end power, but you'd never know it from the way my .18 ran. Exceptionally hard to keep the front end down even with supersoft suspension on the rear.

Biggest problem I had was having to cut the header a bit on both the .18's header and a little more off the .23's header to get it to fit perfectly between the header manifold and the stock radio box that I still have on the truck. No big deal if you have a dremmel.

Yeah it is used, but barely. Seller said 1'2 a tank, and the Maxx had too many other problems.

Well, if you can't get a hold of the guy to see if he stil has the regular button anywhere, you may try http://www.leisure-time.com/tri.htm

Give them a call to see if one of the following has what you're looking for.

TRIS18012201 S18 TX Head 39.71
TRIS18012202 S18 Head 38.34

They have the turbo button separately for like $12, but maybe the head kits would include the standard button you're looking for.

I ment to ask, untill I get a BB pipe I saw something about a 1/4 ince drill bit for drilling out a stock T-Maxx pipe. Know anything about this?
