Hi all,

I am having an air leak with my sportwerk chaos buggy.

I've tested my engine for leak with water and soap and blowing in to see bubbles and i wasn't able to see any bubbles while doing it. I decided to seal the carb and back plate and give it a test after more than 24 hrs and again..same thing..can't adjust the hsn right...

After some unstable running, i could see some nitro fuel unburn (blue) right underneath the head and also some burned fuel (brownish) under the engine and clutch.

If i disconnect the fuel pressure line to the muffler and blow into it, if i keep the throttle at lowest, fuel will go out of the cluth, is that normal ? I've tried it with brand new engine and it does that too ?

Also, each time i remove the head, at least 1 of the 4 screws are loose, even if i tight it real good.

I'm a newbie, i didn't knew back than about how to tight the 4 screws in a X pattern way, could i warped the gasket ?

Is there a way to test if there is a leak at the head region ? How to know if the main bearing and front bearing is worn and need to be changed ?

Thank !

Dan

The only way to be sure would be to replace them both. You may have warped your head from having it in a bind from not tightening the bolts properly. No biggie; I'd pick up a new head and gasket/gaskets. Whatever your engine calls for. I'd go ahead and replace the bearings, too, if you want to dig that deep into the engine. You could always try fixing the head and see how it runs. My head was just a little loose and tightening it cured all my problems. It took me awhile to figure it out because the bolts were tight. I pretty much forced them down about another 1/4 turn or so. I was so frustrated with this mill that I was ready to trash it and get a new one. As soon as I tightened the bolts, I noticed more compression and the motor ran and reacted to adjustments properly. The debris in my hsn wasn't helping, either!:)

Hey Metalhead,

I do have spare parts, i'll swap some parts to check this out !

I will not go and buy some parts because that engine on ebay is sold for 30$ including the starter !

Thanks for the info,

Peace

ps: I will buy a good hex driver tool because i am having those cheap ones, short and small little tool, i can't tight it hard alot...afraid to twist and break the tool ! i will tight it hard ;)
