I just got my engine back from HPI because i send it for and exchange . but i am having problems with the pullstarter . the last engine i had was a .25 with rotostart i came with my truck but this is my first time with a pullstarter. but the problem i have with the pullstarter is that when i pullit it sounds like if the engine was flodded and it feels like something is locking inside that prevents it for me to pull it.

any help will be great thanks.

Yup, sounds like the engine is flooded. Take the glowplug out and give it a few pulls to clear the piston. Replace the glow plug and try leaning the HSN an 1/8 of a turn. When it starts and dies once you take off the glow starter, that means it's still a little rich. Lean it out another 1/8 of that happens.

Hope this helps out a little bit.

but when i take the glow plug off and i give it a few pulls theres no fuel inside the piston its dry inside. but i am going to try leaning out the engine more. thanks

new engines are hard to start...
Especially with a pull start
toss some After run oil and give it a few tugs without the plug on there...

Big Blocks are VERY hard to Pull Start brand new...
needs to be lub up..

After Run Oil

All my engines I put After Run Oil first before i start it if it's a new engine

then I turn the fly wheel to lub up the cylinder

then I fire it up with a pull start or roto start

This prevents the one-way from breaking

that's why during break in you have go through 1 tank before driving it

plus it is SO RICH..

this helps it lubricate it

New engines are tight, especially in colder weather. Try warming it up with a hair dryer to expand the sleeve a little and make it easier.

I agree w/ scottm. You need to warm up the motor before you pull on it. This will help the metal expand and also give you a better break-in....:winnar:

HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT FORGET. DO NOT LOOK INTO THE GLOW PLUG HOLE WHILE DOING THAT OR YOU WILL BE SORRY.

if these dont work i had the same problem with mine. the crankcase could be flooded causing nothing to move. u may have to pull the motor or u will damage the piston rod and u''ll be sry
