I know this forum is about the revo but the slayer is similar (with trx 3.3). I am new to nitro rc and have been having some issues running my truck. I tuned it after break in and it worked fine (just stalled when idling sometimes) about a quart later, I'm having issues with my traxxas on board temperature gauge. I think I got some water in it. One day, it was not working at all and the truck was running fine but then I got it to turn on and it read 300 degrees. I, as a newbie driver, got really worried that I was doing something wrong. I richened by 1/8 on the hs but then it would not start. The glowplug light on the easy start was off so I put in the partialy used glow plug laying around. The next day I ran it paying careful attention to the temp gauge and saw that it was running hot. I richened it a couple of times and notices the symptoms of such, decreased performance ect, but the engine still went over 290 degrees. After a few tries of richening, it won't start and I realize the glowplug light is off again.
Btw it has always had a problem with stalling when I let it idle for more than 4 seconds

Should I get another glowplug?
could there be something wrong with my temp gauge?

just looking for advice,
Thanks

I would put the carb back to factory settings and start again
Do you have access to another temp gun or something like that to rule out a fault
If your still getting high temps I would say you have an airleak and you may need to seal the backplate and carb with some rtv

I would get rid of the on board temp gauge and grab a decent hand held one.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am having trouble locating the factory settings specs for the needles of the 3.3 engine. Do you know what that is?

Also, should I go ahead and buy another glow plug? I don't know how long they are supposed to last

for the sake of i i would replace the plug use either a traxxas 3232x or an os lc4
factory settings are hsn 4 turns out from closed and the lsn should be flushwith the slide and not he ball connector as i found out very early on
from what i have found these setting are only a rough base and you need to take fuel and ambeint temp into account

is there any difference between those glow plugs?
Do you have a recommendation?

thanks so much

Any brand long medium plug will work. Being traxxas i would just stick with the standard 3232X plugs. You can get them off ebay 5 for like $25 or even cheaper maybe. I run McCoy #59 hot plugs with 20% fuel in both my picco .26 and my ofna force .28 big block and have had great luck with lifetime on them.

I would say the traxxas 3232x I have been using the lc4 for ages as they tend to last me longer but I dont run anything more than 15% in any of my traxxas engines
