:puke:ok i can't seem to get this over priced weedeater to start now, i know its been sitting since 3 or 4 years now but i did winterize it slightly, i guess i should take the carb apart and check it out, for that matter i might as well disassemble the engine and make sure its good and clean too.. any ideas where to start.... does fuel go bad???:puke:

Just make sure the cap is on tight, and it's stored in a cool dry area away from sunlight and it should be good. Do like you did mine and tear it down, and make sure you dont have air leaks on the carb or anything. But didnt mine start on your fuel? So its ok I would think. Get her going mine runs better today than it did thursday.

i asume its gasoline? yes gas does go bad. bad gas gets gummy so you will have to flush the engine. get a new spark or glow plug and try that. thats a good start anyways. also clean the carb thorouly

When gas is left sitting that long it turns to varnish...yes, the same color, smell and hardness of varnish used on furniture and floors.
You need to disassemble the carburettor and soak the parts in lacquer thinner overnight. The needle valves need to be blown out with an air gun after the varnish has thinned out.
If you want the easy way out, just get a new carb. The rest of the engine should be okay.

right on I've taken the carb completly apart no varnish i didnt leave the fuel in the tank was actually talking about my gallon of fuel.. i have a feeling that the bottom of my fuel tank might have some trash in it because if i blow thru the top hose i dont get much of anything coming out of the bottom hose ... its so not raining here today..need to get this thing out sideeee...

um, gasoline? Sure you don't mean nitro? Our trucks run on a combination of methyl alcohol and nitromethane. The fuel we use is hydroscopic which means it absorbs water which is bad. An open can of fuel should not be kept for more than 6 months. And if you keep the fuel in your fill bottle put some plastic wrap on the stem before you cap it to help it seal airtight.

3 or 4 years. Time for some new fuel. Your running issues will get much better with fresh fuel.

Your first reference was to a weed eater. I was going through 'new posts' and didn't notice that it was in the traxxas forum.
So, it wouldn't be in the carb, since there's no float bowl, and it wouldn't turn to, or smell like varnish.
Throw out the jug you have and start fresh. New glow plug also.
