finally for the first time i have the savage and the picco .26 tuned in harmoniously together as one. i ended up going to 6lb springs, gpm shocks, 25wt. oil., 3/4 in the back, 1/2 in the front, on the threaded shocks, front upper arms level, the rear dog bones level, 4gr. spider mod., front 5000k, rear 3000k, diff. oil, and now after all this, i can finally keep the front tires on the ground. but keep in mind you do have to adjust the slipper clutch. i just thought i'd share this in case anyone was having the same problem w/wheelies.

I just finished experiencing the right of passage called "changine diff oil" in my lightning. It's my understanding that the diff cases in the savage are the same, but the last time I had the diffs open in my savage they didn't have o-rings in them to keep oil in. Do you'r diffs leak? If not, I'm gonna put some silicon in them also. IMO the diffs are really loose on the savage. I just got a GPM spool, but I'm a little hesitant about totally locking the diff.

It's good to hear that you've got it dialed in. There's nothing like grooving with a dialed in vehicle.

When HPI starts shipping the SS, I'm gonna trade in my old 21BB for one of the new .25's, so I'll keep this thread in mind when I do.

the diff has a oring on one side and a gasket on the other. they should not leak unless the oring or gasket is bad. just keep in mind don't do like i did and fill them all the way up.fill them to the middle of the gears. after the fact i found out about this if you fill up the diff it will leak when it gets hot and expands.

Yeah, I was told to fill them 80%, that puts it about at the top of the spider gears. So you're saying about 50% then?

what I was told to fill it up to the middle of the spider gear. is this 1/2 i don't know did not look at it as % just make sure that 1/2 of the gears are covered with silicone.

pic of what i was trying to say

That's about what I imagined. I put a bit more in mine though, the spider gears were almost covered. We'll see what happens. If I got too much in mine, I'll definately notice.

well, the harmony's over until i find a HSN oring. mine completely and totally fell apart. anybody have a clue where i can order these from, cuz my lhs doesn't carry them. HELP!!!!!!

You might try a decent auto parts store. Most good ones will have standard o-rings, you'd just have to match one up.

Sorry to hear about the troubles. Nothing lasts forever.
