hard descision

hi I'm having trouble making up my mind between nitro and electric. i have up to $400 to spend Total... that includes batteries if its electric u guys choose. was tinking on the traxxas name and like the slayer (nitro) or the slash (electric) i have a nitro. i will do some short-medium track and maby long racing and some bashing jumping and some street. i want something controllable but fast and i want it to be cheap to maintain... like where i dont need to go out and buy parts often.
thanks for your opinion. i would just do with the slash but my brother (whos never owned an rc car and has no credibility on them) is telling me that nitro is the only way to go because he thinks electric is slow. i wouldnt have this issue but I'm affraid that if i do buy an electric i have to play a waiting game constantly to let the batteries charge, whereas nitro i can just fuel and go. but on the other hand i dont like tuning the nitros and cleaning air filters and all the other little things involved with a nitro.

I find with the nitro that it can cost quite a bit to maintain if you aren't a good driver LOL but I still find it alot of fun as the car screams past and you see the smoke from the exhaust.

From what I hear it's all down to what you prefer, I know I'm not much help, I'm a total noob and the only electrical experience I've had was tyco back in the day.

The Slash is not slow, and is a very cool class to race in. All they need is a little bit of RPM plastic in the right places and they are quite durable. Find you a couple good 7 cell battery packs on E-Bay amd watch out for a good dual output charger. you can always buy more batteries.
The Jato is worthless for racing or anything off road. It's overpowered and fragile. The Slayer is basicaly a Revo, but handles worse. The 3.3's are finicky, Traxxas makes horrible clutches, you'd spend a ton getting the truck reliable.
The SC8 from Associated would be a better choice.

If you want to race, then definitely go for a Revo.

You may need to get it used if you can't muster the extra hundred or so. The Savage and the Revo are both pretty durable, but racing wise the Savage is a brick compared to the Revo and durability wise, the Revo is glass compared to the Savage, lol

Very good truck, lots of fun. It is a tough one and handles pretty darn good.
