Hey,

I want to play the guitar. I don't what it is about it that intreges me, but I want to play it...at least I'll have 1 more insturment to add to my arsonal(Piano, Clarinet, Saxaphone).

Now, if I was going to buy a woodwind, I would know everything about it to know ever. But, since I'm going to go buy a stringed insturment, I don't know poop.

If someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction of a fairly low amp/guitar, that would be great. Umm...I'm not looking to play for anyone YET, some I just want a mini amp. Nothing huge.

www.samash.com is the rock shop around here.

Thanks,
Spit

Hey Spit. Listen to me if you get a guitar your RC cars will suffer. I got my guitar and I played for about 3 days straight, only stopped when I had to eat or pee, my fingers were nothing but blisters.

I have had really good luck with the guitar that Ryhton suggested they are nice little guitars. I have had good luck with Fenders, they are nice guitars to start with. It really depend how much you are willing to spend on a guitar

I would like to suggest somthing, I started playing a electric gutiar and it was okay but I just couldnt get dialed .Then started playing a acoustic nylon string guitar, way nicer. The guitar is a lot more forgiving and easier to tune. and I just sounded better it was easier to play plus no amp or cords to worry about. after about a year of playing the acoustic guitar, I then went back to my electric guitar and I was able to play much better. just my :2cents:

Good luck with what eer you get

I picked up an Agile from RondoMusic.com
I have the black/gold Al-2000 and it's worth every penny. I'm playing through a little 15w Johnson and a 15w Crate.
Both are about the same, but if you have a stereo, I would spring for the Crate. I am able to plug the Crate amp into my shop stereo and get a much better sound.

I just started a couple months ago, and I suck, but the Agile makes me sound good.
My brother also got a Squier Strat from Guitar Center. No complaints, but the whammy bar makes tuning a start-up ritual.

Take a look at what Rondo has to offer. They ship fast, and all of the Agiles are shipped double-boxed, and arrive in very good condition.

I have to second the Agile for the money it plays and is as good as the Gibson Epiphone lespaul. I have been playing guitar for 30+ years and have played every guitar under the sun.... the agile lespaul will certainly fit the bill..... enJOy

For under 200 bucks you can not beat this with a stick.... and it would probably get you layed faster then that clarinet LOL

Spit, don't worry. Your RC's won't suffer. And it's easier to pick up chicks with a giutar than a Savage. Trust me. I've played off and on for 23 years. I haven't had to buy a guitar in a long time so I'm not totally cool on what's hot. I have a early '90s Charvel 475 Deluxe. Looks kinda like this:

I like it. Plays nice enough for me.
Sam Ash has a lot of good equipment. Here's where it's like RC. Set a budget. A realistic one. Spend as much as you can afford. Because you'll probably only buy one for now. And think about what you want to learn. If you're doing all modern music like metal or punk or alternative, you can go for some pretty mainstream electrics. If you're doing folk, then go acoustic. And classical, well..a classical guitar.
Wow, I'm looking at the site and I'm amazed at what you can get nowadays for $200! Hell, I paid $600 for my Charvel 13 years ago!

Dude, you totally have to buy this one:

ROFL Thanks...

I was looking at this:
http://www.samash.com/catalog/showi...=&Contains=&Search_Type=Department&GroupCode=

That would put me at about $300 +/- with amp, stand, case, ect.

Msly...I wouldn't have taken clarinet, but I had to play it to play sax because my band director is ***. Even though I'm good at it, I still love the sax!

Isn't that one of those guitar God drool toys??
I don't know much about guitars but I think if I had an sg I'd have to learn to play....I love their sound.....

haha ill pass on that deal ped.. it was my dads... i got it when he passed away.. ILL learn someday!!@

I got a BC Rich Warlock with a Marshall 80W Combo amp... I took lessons for a year, and wasn't catching on too much... too many distractions.

a good guitar for ya would be a Fender Squier. Ya can get them new for like $140 and there pretty decent guitars. Otherwise ya can get a Mexican Strat for pretty cheap. (Dont get the Jap. one. They sound like ass). Epiphones are also pretty decent for starters. In guitars you definatly get what ya pay for though. I myself started with a Squier, then went to a Gibson Sg that was my dads and now I have a original 69' Fender Telecaster. I also have a Fender Hard top, and a Electric accoustic.

If ya want a accoustic one, Id part with the Fender one I have. Would come with a hard case, strap and some other stuff. Lemme know.

Hey Spit,
Since you are obviously musically inclined to start with, and knowing the piano, though a key instrument, is really a string instrument, and the written music is basically the same as a guitar, I'd say go for a higher quality instrument if you have the funds to do so.
The general concensus has said go for something that is lower end but decent quality, and that in my opinion would be fine for someone with no musical background that may lose interst in it.
I think you'll appreciate the quality of the higher end guitars, such as a fender, gibson, bc rich,,there are alot of them out there, and you should be able to pick up a really nice high quality guitar starting at about $400.00-$500.00 up to about what ever you'd like to pay.
Personally, I play a '74 Fender Telecaster Deluxe and it is sweet playing to say the least.
One of the main things I like in a guitar is low string action with no fret buzz and will keep a tune even when stored for weeks at a time. Those are some of the qualities of higher end guitars.

Jeep

Since you play other instruments you are pretty serious about playing.

Like Jeep said get the best you can afford. Sounds like you will keep it. Spend the extra bucks and get one you like.

Mine is a Peavy T-60 I got from a pawn shop. It suits me for picking up every once in a while, but I wouldn't reccomend it. It keeps a tune pretty good and very little fret buzz, depending on what strings are on it. (I never learned to play anyway)

Everything I have is Peavy. Just worked out that way.
Got kinda like a redneck studio. My guitar is hooked up to a practice amp and it is hooked up to a 7 channel mixing board. Even had it so we could record at one time.
