Considering that the current SUT is based on the Storm and GS had attempted to discontinue the Storm (Storm news embedded in article) should we expect the current SUT to be replaced soon?

My line of thinking is based on the introduction to the Avenger. Could this mean a SUT2 on the horizon? I ask because I am very close to pulling the trigger on a new SUT and would hate to get it only to find out 6 months (or less) later, it is discontinued for a SUT2.

Thoughts........

Sut

I think the current SUT is an excellent MT for race or play, I wouldn't worry about it getting replaced, buy it and have fun.

get the SUT, the storm was never in any danger. it was re-released with slightly different spec to differentiate it from the new avenger that they just released. it doesn't make sense to market 2 identically equiped racing buggies. so the avenger is the new racer, and the storm will probibly be marketed as a basher with racing capabilities and in more RTR forms.

I think that there maybe just a new and improved SUT if there were to be a new SUT.Maybe just revamp it to have better quality to entice the customer. I think the SUT is a great platform. Kinda lilke the Mammoth ..but better.

There is a nice article about the GS Racing Sut Pro in this months Xtream Rc Magazine that you might want to check out, If you are interested in an getting the SUT. I would bet that down the road when ever GS does release the Avenger that they would most likely make a truggy version of the it at some point, but the SUT would still be a great choice.

I would doubt they would make a change that quickly with all of the Unlimited MT wins under it's belt for 2004. I have one and it is a blast to drive. Plenty of torgue, handles very well and goes in the direction that you point it. I've been experimenting with different diff and shock oils to come up with a good combination for bashing. Mine is a rtr version with some slight mods and what I can say is that it performs as well as a few much more expensive mt's that I have owned. I would recomend it. Unless you have already seen this you may want to take a few minutes and scan through it.

The Sut looks like a great RC, I am sure you will have a blast with it, great for racing and strong enough for bashing...what more could you want.

Have fun with the SUT I've heard it's a great truck, I am thinking about converting one of my Storms into one.

i am getting a sut an would like to know what i can do to make to as strong as possible? if any of u have found any parts prone to breaking or any other mods needed right of the bat,id like to know.so far all i hear that needs any help is the steering servo. an are there many aluminum parts?

IF you are going to race it try to stay away from aluminum parts, THey are hevier and when they bend on a crash they are useless, first thing to do is read the reviw af the team GS they have good info andtell you some tricks of the trade for getting the SUT up to be a shamp a prved already race worthy and winner.

PS, all arms upper and lower should stay Plastic and after you get the Diff oil change next is the Crank bell (steering) Servo I have the JR Propo(digital) JRPSZ8550 188.oz for steering and the JR 590 for (throtle) 85.oz and they work great

if u dont mind me asking how much $$ u got in ur servos?? an thx alot for ur help mongoose

the JR Propo 8550 is a digital 188.oz and .15 speed and he JR590 is 85oz. .15 speed and you can get them for 114.00 the 8550 and 50.00 for the 590 thats what I see at the moment on tghe net.

By the way this SUT is the shitsna it handles and races better than any MT that I have own.

thx again man. o yea, one more thing. have u bashed it very hard? how is it holding up? i heard someplace that the wheel extenders were the weakest point. have u ahd any prob with those?

Mine was the ready to run version with the 27mhz FM radio that got imeadiately upgraded to a Hitec Aggessor.
I moved the steering servo to the throttle/brake and replaced the steering servo with a Hitec 645mg which seems sufficient to do the job if you want to save a few dollars. I can crank the the wheels side to side untill locked while it is setting still.
The steering was complimented by an upgarded GS servo saver.
Next the throttle/brake linkage was replaced with the Dynamite Pro setup, it's 10 times easier to work with.
The front cva's were upgraded with a set of shiny Ofna 8mm. They will fit but you will need drill out the pin holes to accomodate the larger GS pins and shim them properly to get them to work. No more broken front cva's.
Next the brake pads were replaced with a better set of Ofna's that I had laying around, the stock pads were showing a lot of wear and starting to brake down after about 1/3 of a gallon.
Last but not least I've replaced the diff fluids with 50,000wt front, 100,000wt center and 3,000wt rear.
The last thing that I have to do is mount the set of Proline Bowties on a set of Proline dishes that have been laying on my bench for the past several months.
I'm still experimenting with shock oils.
No more upgrades until things bend or break.

the build quality on this thing leaves much 2 b desired....i'm glad i picked up the team tech article 4 tearin it down and buildin it up far better than it was. w/a few options as well. antenna post, steering binds, this linkage argh, alignment, and suspension actuation...leaves much 2 b desired. i also did laugh at that glow starter they give out. takes a AA, lol.

mostly i'm suspect of this clutch, yes i have my throttle linkage set up sloppy 4 easier breakin (using trim 2 drive car part throttle or higher idle). but still it seems like it needs a fair bit 2 get goin. the tech article said that 1 might want an ofna clutch bell, shoes, and mugen springs i think it was. might have 2 look into that.

not high priority. i'm done tank 6 thru 8 b4 i let it rip at all. after break in, its gettin torn down and rebuilt. so between that the hyper's need 4 a rebuild, i'll have things to do this winter. but the SUT will b ready 2 lay some truggy luv on the competition come next yr. makes me wanna get a revo 4 the small block class. that class here has good fun competition, however most can't drive very well.

anyways good luck 4 whomever gets this thing. in fact baseball pitcher arthur rhoades (orioles, mariners etc) came in that day i bought mine and bought 1. his was breakin in at the shop the other day while i was there. shop owner said he's gonna dump a hot motor from his serpent in there. ed owner 2 not do that b4 we have rules s/u at local track 4 truggys. i also 2yrs ago sold arthur his carbon fiber road bikes back when i used 2 work at shops all over balmer (baltimore). hence my name.
