You want to know what sucks ?
Today I am driving down the road, I go to turn in to my folks driveway.

It's a tight turn and a small entry way, I slow down WAY before the turn and I signal right. About halfway through the corner I hear a loud schreech. I look in the mirror, and it's filled with a 3/4 ton diesel ford and blue smoke is pouring out from it's tires.

Now half way through the turn and almost at a stop I see some people on the opposite side of the driveway with their hood open If I get hit I am going to plow in to their car, and pin them between their car and their house. They will die.

I point and nail the gas knowing I am going to hit the house because it's either get out of the way, or chain reaction and kill these people.

Impact! The just barely clip the rear of my truck and spin me around I am know parked perfect. No one is hurt and minimal damage.

I get out, I ask the people in front if they are ok, I ask the occupants of the truck that ass-ended me

"Are you both alright"
He says " Yeah but my truck isn't YOU f---ed it up"

I say ok I need to cath my breath give me a minute they call the cops..

Now here's the deal..

His skidmarks are 50ft long
He admits I had the right signal on.
He admits My brake signals worked.
He admits he was going a bit fast
He admits he was in a hurry to get to a game..

I was hit IN the right lane

I'm not worried, it's not my fault
The guy that hit me, his wife won't leave me alone bitching me up and down.

Cop shows, says I turned too wide.
looks at the trucks, misinterpets the damage on the trucks, and writes me a ticket
I am soley responsible

Wife continues bitching

Cop admits I made the right decision
Cop admits I saved lives
Cop admits the other guy was speeding.
His wife is now pointing and bitching

I get the ticket? WTF pics below...
I am pissed..only with the guys & wifes attitude, the cop was great..he didn't have enough information but cool..

These guys ram me from behind I'm all good and they just won't let up. Shheesh it's over and done no one is hurt at leat talk civil..all they cared about was fault and money

The real bummer..I'm already F-d up now It'll be nother week before I can drive or walk on my own PHHT wwhen you been in bed all winter and you're just starting to be able to work again a week is more than just time, it's friggen torture

In the end tho.. no one was hurt and I know my decision is what saved the two people working on the car.. the ticket and the mney means nothing.. knowing I did the right thing will help me sleep.

Look close at the skid marks (dark lines below arrows and dots..where I come from if you are turning and get hit in the ass it's not your fault.

Iwoulda fought that citation till the death. that's bullshit bro. In every case, the person driving behind should ALWAYS get cited for ACDA. if it doesn't matter if a road is patched with ice then it doesn't matter if you turned a little wide. Although, I don't see how wide you could possibly be by those pics. That guy simply didn't have enough clear distance. That's the bottom line, and the fact that you we're ticketed is a statement of that patrolmans ignorance for the obvious. Glad to hear that everybody is ok though. That's always the most important
 
I'm just so pissed even this morning.. I can't even sleep

It goes against everything I have ever been taught...

My thinking.. even If I had stopped DEAD in the road, he should have had time to stop.

Here's the deal.
Very quiet guy not wanting any trouble.

Woman who emphaticlally states I screwed up
Woman who demands I be punished.

Because of the woman's demeanor and her absolute demand that I be punished, he assumed if they were so atimate about it being my fault The officer was influenced by their Will, or their presence. Me being quiet, cool and worrying about other people.. I was just the easy guy to blame..

If he had written them a ticket or blamed them he would have had a full scale brawl on his hands.. It may have been subconsious, but that's the way it went. total absolute bullshit.

Had the situation been reversed, I would have gotten a negligent driving ticket for rear ending somone in my OWN lane.

Damn it I'm pissed lol
 
Well, I have seen oh so many cases of the "squeaky wheel getting the grease". It wasn't a matter of right or wrong. Nor of fair and equal treatment. In the cases I've seen, it's about some person throwing a tantrum when they didn't get their way. I had a patient once who called for me while I was in with another patient. I got back to my desk about 40 minutes later and found out this person had called 3 times in the last half hour demanding I call back. They threatened to go to the hospital adminstrators if they didn't hear from me. So suffice it to say, I had to see that patient about an hour later. Or one patient who ended up being detained at another clinic for 2 hours. I told them that I would have trouble squeezing them in and would prefer they reschedule. Well, within 5 minutes I had the managers of 3 different clinics calling to tell me that I had no right to do that. That the patient was pissed and that they were to be seen.
So you can see, those who make the biggest stink, no matter if they are right or wrong will get what they want.
My advice? Look in the mirror. Take a deep breath. Look at that ticket. Then throw the calm, cool demeanor out the window for about 5 mintues. Then tear into this poop. You have photographic proof. Look at that guy's skidmarks. They don't even remotely veer out of lane. The guy hit you and he was still clearly in that lane. He made no attempt to get out of the way. It also shows that you were not turning wide. You were not outside your lane. And that you had the right of way to make that turn. He was obviously speeding. To lay that kind of skid takes a fair amount of speed. Like was said above, any judge who sees this will throw it out...

I think you are absolutely right.

I need to take the anger I have about the whole incident including the lady, and focus it on being very assertive that I had absolutely no fault in the matter.

Something that just came to my mind..

50ft plus of skid marks, and not one single turn of the wheel.. this guy could have turned anywhere. Skidding for that amount of time, I know I would have tryed to avoid the target.
I didn't have as much time as him, I figured out what was going on half way through the skid..being on the recieving end I still had enough presence of mind to point and steer my truck, If I hadn't the people standing in front of their cars would have been maimed.. what I am saying is that I had half the time to make a decision, and I avoided what i could.. this guy had forever to change his course and didn't. For that reason I think he was looking elsewhere or talking with his wife.

I heard the schreech, and stabbed the throttle to get out of the way. I thought I had made it because the schreeching stopped. The man let off his brakes before impact. Panic induced or not, it sent a shiver up my spine..

Thanks Candyman. I have a new outlook on this. I am NOT going to pay for this guys innatention and his wife's loud mouth.

If this ticket holds, I am personally liable for all the dmage to his truck, and any injuries (even though they are fine). I refuse to pay somone else for assending me.

Grr remember driving school. If you can't stop you're following to close. If a person signals or brakes and you hit them it's your fault period. My driving instructor told me there was NO leeway on that issue..
 
Save all those pics, take more, and take it to court, do not plead guilty. I dont know about where you are, but in Florida, no matter what, if you rear end someone you are at fault, no matter what! Even if you slammed on the brakes, the guy behind you is supposed to leave enough distance to stop safely, he did not. FIGHT IT!
 
BTW. lykan, I just caught the title of the thread. Fargin Iceholes. Sumnumum beeches. Love that Johnny Dangerously...
 
I just don't get this. You could have been completely stopped in that lane, or you could have suddenly stomped your brakes to avoid an animal. When someone hits you from behind, THEY are at fault for following to close. ALWAYS !! NO excuses.
50 feet of brake marks HAS to tell something. You need to discuss this with your insurance company. They will most likely sue HIM for damages to your car, if you have collision insurance.

I just thought you made some good points to the man....and the Candyman CAN make the world a sweeter place.....so lighten up sour puss
