I took off my picco 28 to replace a spur gear and I noticed some grime buildup at the bottom of the carburetor. Now this if a new engine and when I put the carburetor on I didn't put any type of sealant, should have I? I took pictures but I have to post them later tomorrow so you get a visual or what I'm concerned with.

here are the pictures:

Looks like my fuel tank after I tried to refuel in -10C temperature when my hands where shaking as I wasn't wearing gloves lol :D There is fuel coming out from somewhere, where it shouldn't. I would disassemble the carb and clean it well. Check that you still got every seal where they should be. Also check that the fuel nipple/HSN assembly are screwed enough tight to the carb body

You might be correct, because I did have to loosen the assembly so I could swing the nipple to the opposite side.

Looks to me like the carb slide boot isn't on all the way.

I pulled it up while inspecting the carb.

Make sure the carb and hsn are fully seated, then clean the engine. run it for a little while and check again. I would recommend getting some lucky seven wicking sealer, it's much better than that old school rtv.....plus you don't have to take the engine apart, which can cause a problem in the first place.
