Anyone else notice this?

I think the parts are worth looking at. Maybe a little stronger than the black ones before.

It almost, at first glance, looks like a pure nylon instead of that wierd proprietary blend that traxxas uses. Maybe it'll be stronger than the stock stuff?

I actually got to look at one today at the LHS and according to Traxxas those gray parts are supposed to be stronger than the plastic on the 2.5. They should be backwards compatable with the 2.5 though. Personally I think the wheelie bars are a cool touch, but a bit corny.

It is my understanding that the grey parts are actually a little softer to allow it to take more punishment, kinda like RPM stuff.
 
A t-maxx is still a t-maxx, makes me shiver thinking of all the money I spent to make it "Right".......

Just needed to add my nickels worth.
 
That would be kinda cool if they could make a stronger, more reliable maxx right outta the box. Its got a lot of hop ups that the original maxx didnt have. I am looking forward to how it does...
 
Traxx-ASS = Marketing genious
Everyone else busts ass to get new designs to market.....Traxxas says...ehh...we'll finally make a bigblock and rebadge the fiddlesticker......I like the design of my maxx but the quality still sucks compared to HPI stuff right out of the box.....

That's why I bought a new savage x instead of the new T-maxx

Tell me about it Ed. I have spent so much money making my Tmaxx better that I hide the amount from myself! The sad thing is I still need to put money into it! It was a fun first nitro though!

Hey Plaid,

Traxxas has made some improvements to the Maxx, although it was not the ones most Maxx owners would have liked to see. Basically they put Revo parts on it, and a 3.3 ( Which I am not sure is a big block, is it? I thought a .18 was a 30 so I figured it would be a .19) The dual steering servos are nice and the revo drivetrain along with the way thicker chassis but other than that it is still that same old Maxx.

I'd like to see them own up to some deficiencies in their product like:
A-arms....C'mon those stock ones break if you say BOO too loud
Bulkheads....we'll see w/ the newer plastic
Axles....did they use the Revo style sliders yet?
chassis flex....I'm still not convinced the thicker chassis will stop spur gear munching
Diff flex....again, C'mon guys, If I can grab a diff unit w/ bare hands and twist it, think what even 1 hp (or whatever they claim on their mills) would be doing to it....they hit the race geometry right on compared to other MTs in it's day but then produced crap.....looks to me like they are doing it again.....

Yeah, I tend to agree with you. It is still the same old maxx. I would have liked to see them seal the diffs, along with everything else they did to it. I thought most of what they did was purely cosmetic, IMO. Yes they did use the Revo sliders, which are sealed at the universals. I think they made an attempt at making it better. Then again, I am not so sure Traxxas is trying to make the TMaxx compete with the newer monsters. They have the Revo for that, but rather appeal the basher on a budget. If that is the case I think they did ok. It was my first truck and I beat it up pretty good learning how to drive. It held up pretty well. Now that I have gotten into the hobby a bit more and know what I do now, I would have spent the extra $100 and got a Revo. However, my fiance bought it for a bday gift, so I can't complain one bit.
