This is parts bin. Its a CEN chassis from their MT. With an RC4WD transfer case and mount. Capra style axles with AMK ring and pinion. Shimmed and full of red grease. Some decent Hobbypark drive shafts. CEN tires. Cheap shocks.

For power is a 4092 930kv X Team boat motor. (They make fake castle stuff so the wires say Castle Creations.)
I got the motor on flash sale for 20 bucks.

The ESC is the XC-Esc C8 3 to 6s sensorless ESC. Which is 160 amps at 6S. And just a pair of 3S batteries.

The truck can still drive slowly like a stampede would. But it also now has enough power to lay a strip of just blow up your tires. So trigger discipline is a must. Theoretical top speed is between 70 to 100 mph based on human and AI math. Very stable. Handles very well. Very stiff suspension.

Inspired by the Racecamp truck on exocage. Only exists because it was there and I was bored. Amazing result. Direct drive tickles my interest now.
 
Nothing broke. Hard end over. Somehow this drive shaft came apart and nothing snap. And the Rotor lock protection works when the shaft end bound. The ESC was sufficient protection. Wheelie power is right around 17% throttle. I think i can get to about 40 to 50% if I had sand and some space. Need longer shafts maybe. But it seems impossible that it came apart. I am stumped.

Thanks. I looked at every single nut and bolt. Nothing broke. It must be very flexible. This pile of parts turned out really fun to drive. I have to just be really careful on the throttle. I'm gunna get some ramps going. No glitter in the grease. No ovaled out pins. If it holds well I might do one with Meus axles and my other monster truck tires.
 
Found the weakest link. Truck was cross threading obstacles better than it was jumping. I think these are 120mm with 35t. Hopefully it gives me more control. The other shocks did a good job considering. But are pretty bent now.
If it makes 10 runs without stripping tje diffs i will call it a successful build formula.

Okay. I think I need big bore shocks. Jumps great. 2 wheels and handles great. Doesn't use much battery life. Wheelie power helps to land in a wheelie. Scale monster trucking might be the limit. No big air.

Le sigh. Ordered a Axial plastic housing so it should be tougher. Wil See if it is more durable. With the blown shock, link and axle housing and really surprised the driveshafts and axles didn't snap. You have to land under throttle or it will just stop. Lucky the stuck rotor protection worked. These axles were cheap when I bought them. So not nice 7075 like treal or Meus would be. Looks diecast. I should probably be using my LMTs for monster trucking but you know how it is.

AMK ring and pinions (gold colored) seem to be way stronger than black oxide ones.

landing into a crumpled heap was fairly realistic for a monster truck I guess. Body. Also busted. Rebuild with better shocks. Redo the link ends. Fix the housing. And try again

Added some O rings to the generic amazon shocks I like. Some 35wt. Add the Axial housing. Ring and pinions are pretty good but it is getting sharp in a couple spots. Ready to roll again. 40 dollar wreck. No too bad.

They have internal springs. They keep tension on the steering. It only helps at higher speeds with control if at all. But in my mind it keeps hardware from coming loose as fast. Lots of tightening of bolts after each run. And just because. No real reason.

Blue locktite might help with your loose screws. 😎
 
The velcro straps weren't doing it. Tearing through. Added these cable bundling straps.
Only broke a rear axle shaft and the body tore the bed out. Handling is much better with these green shocks. Sky wheelie landed hard on the back end under throttle. So my fault it broke.
Cost could be into the dozens of dollars. Team leader was disappointed in my driving.

Thanks. I bought a bunch of CEN Hooligans from Jegs that one time they had a sale. Forgot about them. Looks way better. Just have to get better at my throttle slipping.
 
Its not so much the control as it is i have to keep blipping the throttle in the air so I don't land with no wheel speed. As the motor is super notchy it acts like a drag brake. I haven't gotten near fully throttle yet. My big wrecks are sky wheelies. And just jumping too long. Snapping shocks and links or snapping a drive axle. If that's all that breaks in happy with that. It was an experiment in direct drive. That motor was on super sale for like 20ish bucks. But 930 kv. I honestly thought it would be fully destroyed in 1 run. This was just a fluke.
