What are some recommended shocks for upgrades? I'm more interested in affordable shocks but throw the best outthere as well.

Traxxas big bore arnt bad they seem to hold up. But I have heard some good things about the proline powerstroke. I have herd some people like like and some people hate the integy piggyback shocks i think that is what they are called

Yeah I was looking at the traxxas big bores, they don't seem bad at all for around $65. The piggybacks/powerlines are great also but are around $100. I'm not looking to do any 30ft jumps or anything like that but I just need something to help with offroad bumps and mediocre jumps. How long will the stock shocks hold up or should I just uprade??

T have seen a lot of people go with BB cheap and nice .I have gone through 6 gallons of fuel and many jumps, bumps, and crashs and i have only broken one shock cap and bent 2 shock shafts and that is all. I have ripped a tire off completely broke my entire front end of and gone through my share of busted a-arms and my stock shocks are still holding up.

Wow...perhaps I should just stick with the stock shocks for now. I haven't had any problems but I thought maybe upgrading them would help from breaking later on.

i use the powerstrokes...have been for almost a week now.

all i can say is that they make me look like a damn good driver...the difference is night and day

even my friends, who dont drive RC cars noticed from just watching me on the track...they were like... "is your car faster or something?? it seems like you're taking the bumps and corners at full speed"

(i was) :)

Powerstrokes are cool I mean how many other shocks are just scaled down originals since powerstrokes use the same technology as real off road trucks. How cool is that.

most of the time...a scaled down version doesn't always work...take those piggyback shocks for instance....
if u go to pro-lines page....they have a nice animation and a very good explanation of how the coil-over and bypass systems work. Then after putting em on, first thing i though was, damn this feels really soft...how is this supposed to not bottom out...
but then as you push the truck down, it gets firmer...thats the dual-rate springs at work...

then the increased damping is caused by the bypass system going from 5 open holes when fully extended to three at halfway, then 2 i think when almost all the way compressed...and it has a big outer chamber on the bypass to hold 2 times the oil of a normal shock....
bottom line....they work good...
only complaint was that...in all the pics...the rubber boots look all perfectly round and perfect...but mine were all wrinkled...not like it matters....they do the job...
and one of them is slightly ripped...but fortunately, u can order any single part of the shock from pro-line
