I got my revo 3.3 today in the mail, i bought a used one off ebay that "needed tuning" I got it, cleaned the tank out put fuel in it and fired it up, he set everything back to factory on the carb, fired right up and idled good, once you hit the throttle it cuts out! I've tried tuning it but I'm pretty sure thats not the issue, also it wont go into reverse? whats the deal with this opt drive shiznat? should i reset it? ill clean the carb tonight and charge all the batteries. any help?

If it's been broken in, setting it back to factory is too rich. You'll need to let it warm up, then lean the LSN no more than 1/8 of a turn in. Start out slowly, then see if it gets better. Any more adjustments should only be about 1/16 at a time with a few passes between changes.
You'll probably need to lower the idle at the same time.
When you're getting a good idle and a good take off, start leaning your HSN for WOT.

let me explain better, when i hit the throttle it will cut out....so i am unable to tune it.

I just figured out i was running the truck when the little flip button on the remote was set to reverse....so why did it want to go forward?

Your channel at the bottom is just fliped I think. It won't hurt anything.. You can swap the switch position that way..

Have you cleaned your air filter?? Did you reset the needles your self??

what do you mean it was flipped? and yes i reset the needles myself and cleaned the filter....

At the bottom of the controler.. You can reverse the servos..Or are you saying that it wouldn't shift when you fliped the switch?
Ch 1 is the steering servos. I don't know about the others but one controlles the shifting servo.

Have you cleaned the carb yet?? You know it has to be fuel or air. Maybe a little old fuel in the HS needle...

wouldnt it be old fuel in the low speeed needle? since it wont go faster than idle without cutting out....

My revo did the exact same thing and it turned out to be the Glow Plug... Would start no problem, idle all day long...But as soon as I hit the throttle it would instantly die...

New plug and all was fixed.

tried a new plug and it isnt the case? what else could be wrong? what happens if i reset the optidrive on the truck, what does that do? thanks guys...

no it wont shift into reverse, i will try switching the channels on the controller to get it to and no i havent cleaned the carb and dont really wont to lol this things a biatch to work on!

but working on them is half of the fun, yeah granted it may be a P.I.T.A. to do it sometimes but thats the only way you will learn

your right, and i love to work on em. but i have my buddies jato that is totally messed and doesn't wanna run right and always has problems then got mine and had problems. it turns out it just needed to be adjusted a little bit because whenever you would let off the carb would FULLY close and kill it. YAY! its working, but now whenever i hammer on it and try and let it idle it dies.

just make small adjustments set idle about size of small paperclip. If motors broke in, good place to start is hsn 31/2 turns out, lsn 1-11/4 turns out dont know about optidrive, but good luck

The Revo doesn't use a servo to shift into 2nd gear. It uses the 3rd channel to shift into reverse.

shifting is controlled by a primary spring loaded centrifugal clutch inside the tranny and if you are having issues with it shifting that is easily adjusted, there is an access point on the top of the tranny, spin the spur gear with the access hole open and wait till you see an opening in the gear and once you find that, keep ahold of the spur gear and roll the truck backwards until you see a hex head screw and in VERY small incriments move it, i can't remember the directions off hand but it says on the top of the tranny "shift later" and it shows you which way to turn and if its not shifting you need to turn in the opposite direction in 1/8 turn incriments until you get it to shift and that should help you

Maybe I confused you guys... I was just letting him know that the reverse switch has no set position...You can flip the channel...

His problem was the truck idled but would die when throttle was applied.. He also stated that the truck would not "shift" into rev... Sorry If I confused you guys..

Does the servo do anything When you flip the rev switch??? Sometimes if your idle is too high then the reverse will not engage..Hows your clutch?? Does the truck try to move while idleing??
