Well,

It's definitely time for some new bearings for one of the Maxx's. I've been doing a ton of research on the subject and I decided on these http://www.2coolrc.com/bearings.html sweet bearings. This is the second time I've ordered from 2coolrc and the shipping is always fast via USPS priority. The bearings came in a nice little clear storage box that I can use for screws and chit. I'm running the RPM knuckles with oversized bearings so I wont need the bearings for the knuckles but I can use them on one of my other project trucks. I was also happy to realize that they included all four bearings for the steering bellcrank. FYI Traxxas charges $8.00 a pair for bearing of inferior quality for the bellcranks.

If these bearings are what they say they are then I'll be happy as hell. I've almost blown out stock Traxxas bearings with just the 2.5.

Try to keep track on how long they last by how much fuel you run through it.

I run boca green seals and really like them. They are kind of spendy, but nice nonetheless.

That sure looks a lot like the team blue star set. I am running the Team Blue Star bearings and they have not failed me yet. Let us know how they hold up.

Hey guys,

Olds - It's not very scientific but yeah I'm gonna gauge the bearing life by the general gallons through the truck. Upon removal, some of my stock bearings where almost totally blown with around a gallon of life (give or take a 1/4 quart) with a 2.5 on this particular truck. I've heard allot of good things about the Bocca green seal bearings from fellow rc vets and yeah they're pricey indeed.

NcNitro - The pic on their site looks like a lite Turquise green. The seals are actually solid T-maxx blue and they may very well be Team Blue Star as they don't specify an actual brand. I gotta good vibe off these bearings and I hope they work out great and I'll be sure to update if they don't. Their's a plehtora of bearing choices on the market but some are almost rediculous in price (like many things in this hobby..lol).

Yeah some are rediculously expensive, thats why I decided to try out the blue stars, I got the complete set of 33 bearings for $24.95 on ebay, and they have been great so far, I guess I have about two gallons on them and no failures at all yet.

Thanks for the input NC....damn dude. I hope I didn't pay $40.00 for bearings that could have been had for $24.00. I though the Blue Stars where allot more expensive then $24.00.

Science, shmyence... this is what I do to keep from going insane. I just like to know by gallon how much life I can get out of things.

For instance, here are a few of my pointless stats:

New body - 2 quarts then trash
Shocks - 1 gallon, destroyed 2, 3 leaking
OS 21 RG - 2 gallons, broken crankshaft
Imex soft tires - 1 quart, ripped
Stock bearings in carriers - 2 gallons
XTM cvd's - 1 gallon, 1 broken pin and one broken shaft

It's not scientific, but it's a way to know when you should have things on hand.

Good Point olds....phucking eh you break allot of chit bro. I don't break as much as you but I come close @ times. THe main diff is I never have the pics to prove it..lol.

As for bearings in your knuckles/carriers, don't tell me your still running the crappy stock knuckles??If so it would definitely be in your best intrest to invest in the RPM's with oversized bearings. I'm loving mine and the larger bearings take noticable load of the drivelines.

Yep, running stock. I've only broken one, bent a shiteload of turnbuckles though. I have boca bearings in them now and I'm starting gallon #2 with those.

NO matter how bad ass the bearings are in the stock Carriers the diameter and width just aren't enough to properly handle the load. Maybe with "spaceage" tech bearings but I don't c any of those for sale..hehe.

As for your trashed IMEX tires. No big suprise to me, I love the tread patterns on MOST of the IMEX tires but they're way to heavy and the rubber doesn't last nearly as long as it should as you've experienced. If I was doing serious RC rockcrawling (good tread pattern and soft sticky rubber...weight would be kinda moot) I'd run them but for bashing and general driving I'm not impressed.

Only time will tell with the bearings. I want to agree with you though. They are small for all the weight and high speed rotation that they put up with. But to go RPM is a lot of $ up front. A friend of mine is running them and if they hold up, I'll get them eventually. Boca makes bearings that will fit the RPM carriers as well.
