As title, my 1st RC Nitro, and 1st RC for 20 years.

Any tips, I will be building it on Christmas eve, and likely into Christmas day, with 1st run (possibly under the influence lol) on Christmas day!

I've got a MT2 and a 18SS and I like both of them. The kit comes with all the good stuff right out of the box. The build was easy. I think it took about 10 hours. Do you do a lot of jumping?

I guess you mean with a RC car :p:

It is the 1st Nitro for me,,, I had a Falcon (Electric circa 1988) but it certainly wouldnt stand much more than a 3 or 4 foot jump.

A key thing for me is the build, I am stauing in a hotel with my family, so we will be building it over the Christmas period.
I may even set the throttle server to limit the speed initially, as my kids are only young,,,, how tough are they??

I pressume that a full speed collision with an immovable object will mean a fatal crash!

They are pretty tough trucks. It'll take some abuse...it is an HPI after all.
Keep the alcohol out of the equation. People or worse, your kids could seriously be injured. At least till you learn the rig.
I help run a race track and I have seen and felt the carnage firsthand these cars can do.

I wasn't saying I will drink a couple of bottles of Whiskey and then head out with it and a gallon of fuel :hehe:

I do plan to limit the top speed at least at 1st, with the throttle servo, and we have a very large open space to have some fun with it.

Lol man, you never know... one beer, two beers, 18 beers later....... "Hey watch this!"
Anyways, have fun keep us updated.

Redneck Last Words: "Hey Earl, hold my beer and watch this!"

Let us know how it goes! Both Scrogg and I are contemplating the HPI.

I love those little trucks they are super cool. I have been wanting one.....I knew a guy who had an old picco-maxx .21 in one......it was darn near pointless because it would never get traction. However, it was still cool watching him shred tires. Until diffs and trannys started going.

I don't know if you know this or not but on a Nitro rig you MUST break in the engine before you just go out and rip with it. It takes some time and patience but is vital to your engine surviving and working correctly.

The MT2s are pretty rough right out of the box. Once you get it broke in and decide to go full throttle then I would suggest upgrading the turn buckles. Also make sure you use locktite on everything metal. Tighten and look for missing screws after break in. Have fun with it.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, I have read about breaking the engine in,, no problem there

Tightening the screws worries me a little, do people just tighten them up good and tight, or do they put a drop of some kind of resin on to stop them working loose??

Drop in some threadlock (The thing you're talking about) down the screwhole and onto the screw. Then screw it in until it feels nice and tight, and don't overtighten it. Wait for the threadlock to dry for 24hrs. before you start the truck. That's why it's nice to have a kit, so you can add threadlock to everything and get to know your truck more.

They are good rigs. My buddy has the .15 and runs without a pipe and it is still going,It wont touch my t maxx 2.5 but its a good rig.

Make sure you use the blue threadlock, not red. Blue is semi-permanent and allows for removal later when you need to work on your car. Red is bad juju (permanent) and will be a bitch to undo.

hmmm,,, sounds good, except the wait 24 hours part.

The plan is that I will build it with my kids Xmas eve and Xmas day, then take it out xmas day.

Just use the loc-tite and it will be fine. Go over it when you are done running it.
