I recently purchased 2 used T-MAXXs,on one of them when the front suspension moves up,the distance between the front of the tires gets wider?Did that make sence?I removed the tires and worked the suspension independantly,I can actually watch as I move the arms upward, the tie-rods pull the knuckels?I'm stumped, any clues?

Tie rod ends connected to the wrong side of the steering knuckle?

Nope, they are attached to the lower side of the knuckle!I just dont get it?

Are the pillow ball retainers in too tight. If so, you might not see the movement you should.

I think I have you're solution. Are the turnbuckles attached to the bottom of the steering T-rod or the top?? I'm not sure what the T-rod is actually called, but it's what actually attaches to the steering servo saver. If the turnbuckles are attached to the bottom of it, it should be on the top of that T-rod. I had the same problems, and never figured it our until O was installing my UE servo saver. I hope this bit of info helps.

Ok,First I need some info on these pillowballs,I can kinda look at them and understand the theory of how they work, but have no experiance with them.Second,I'm not sure what a t-rod is,my turnbuckle/tierods attach to the lower side of the knuckle then to the lower side of a straight bar.The straight bar attaches to the steering cranks mounted to the chassie which attach to the servosaver?I'm looking at 2 other MAXXs right now with the exact same looking setup?:help:

Remove one wheel. Look at the end of the knuckle joint face on. You should see two large hex drive looking fittings. Those are the pillow ball caps. They are there to retain the knuckle on the pillow balls (the things that screw into the a-arms). If those caps are too tight against the pillow balls they will not move as a ball joint should and could account for the motion you are seeing.

Ok, could this also happen if they were to loose?cause they have quite a bit of play in them?

It might, but loose is good. Too loose makes for a bounce steer issue.

I just noticed that you said the turnbuckles are attached to the lower side of the "straight bar" (that thing is called a drag link). They should be on top of that bar.

Top of the drag link and bottom of the knuckle...problem solved.

:hump: Thanks alot Sky,you are exactly right, now I look at the other trucks.

No problem...happy to have helped.

I was calling the draglink a T-bar! I'm still new, but I knew what I was talking about. Hence you said you had it on the bottom to begin with, and that is why I told you to move it to the top. Anyway, I'm glad you got it fixed.
